Exotic and rarity will go to the Emira. To be honest, in the world of exotics, the Emira is just average, you'd have to hang out with the regular sports cars to feel the exoticness of the Emira.

Rarity is a double edged sword. The Emira is more rare, but so is the service and aftermarket lol.

I'm not saying you should completely rule out the Emira though, it's got very good formula. If the MT Supra doesn't exist, I would seriously consider an Emira too. Since you mentioned 6-speed, maybe also give the 6-speed Supra a try.
This. While the Emira is a car that highlights the visual misgivings of the Supra, it is also the bottom rung on the exotics scale. The Supra's reduced cost works in its favour because while it can have breakfast with supercars, it's not actually pretending to be one.

Sitting next to a Supra the Lotus looks much better but sitting next to a Lambo or Ferrarri, the Emira just looks like it's trying way too hard to punch above its wieght.

In my quest to find a relatively affordable mid-engined car, the Emira definitely appeared to fit the bill when it was introduced.

However, since then, the reviews have been lackluster due to its minuscule dealer network (here in the US), reliability issues and handling/steering that has been subpar by Lotus standards.

I still think it's a gorgeous mid-engined car. Especially compared to the busy looking Evora, Elise and Exige. Even the little Alfa 4C just looks like an Italian MR2 and has just as questionable reliability.

So it's either a pre-owned R8 V10 (still over $130k), an NA1 NSX (also around $100k) or, dare I say it, a C8 Stingray. I've never considered myself as a Vette guy, but Chevrolet dealerships are EVERYWHERE here in the US and they call can work on a C8 without having to request a specialist which usually comes along with a lengthy wait as well. Not to mention a crazy bang-for-the-buck 495hp, rwd mid-engined n/a v8 all well within reach since 2020 models with crazy low miles are going for low $60k and with overstocked dealer lots holding 2024s and 2025s for way under MSRP, you can easily get a new one for under $100k - very well equipped.

Yeah, I'm way more of a German and Japanese car guy, so I'm still having trouble with the thought of a Vette in my garage. Let alone a Brit. I just wished we had a better network for British cars here in the US.

I just can't do it. Yes, the C8, on paper, is an awesome car. But I just can't see myself in a Vette. I used to own a '93 RX7, and before that I had a '97 Civic. After the RX7, I had a '12 Genesis Coupe R-Spec. I've always been an import guy.

I looked at the C8 before getting my Supra, but I'm just not ready to start wearing New Balance or take up golfing.

That car is a salvage rebuilt vehicle. Can you imagine the costs associated with repairing it.
Good catch, but I didnt even pay attention to that since there are a few at that price level and I just chose the first one I saw.
There are others without accidents reported only slightly higher price like this one:

@AustexSupra Check our reviews from Todd Deeken on the Everyday Driver YouTube channel. The main reason he loves it are for the light weight relative to most other new cars, steering feel, and handling. If you plan to do any road course or particularly spirited driving, he does agree with other reviewers about the manual shifter not liking to be shifted quickly which is counterintuitive if track use or performance driving is a priority. Something he’s obviously willing to work around though. He had his car at the Hooked On Driving event at COTA last month after driving it all the way from Utah, so definitely a suitable car for track and long distances if it matches your priorities.

There's a difference between a salvage vehicle and a salvage-titled vehicle. I bought my MX5 with a salvage title. It had already been repaired, so it was not only drivable, but also very reliable. Of course, it's a Mazda.

Thanks for the heads up.

The Emira is cool, but not "spend $5K+ in repairs and maintenance every year just to have a car that KIND OF looks like a ferrari/lambo but is slower than a lot of modern luxury SUV's" cool.

The Supra still turns heads even 6 years after they came out. If you're buying a car because the exotic look and desire to get the attention of strangers, but don't care about the poor reliability, then just get a used McLaren to be honest.

Drove a 6-speed Emira today. Totally underwhelmed with the performance. Car looks amazing, but I can see wanting more power.
The 4 cylinder auto is more than a second faster in the quarter. CD ran an 11.7 in one. But don’t let the manuals are faster crowd know. 😉
