Agree, and it's also a cheaper car than what the A80 was. According to Performancesound, this car is the equivalent to the NA A80. So if we look at it that way in 93 the NA had a starting price tag of $33.9k or $60k in today's money, and as everyone knows once the hypes dies down and they actually start showing up in dealers we can get the base car for $50k.

Curious also. From the way I understood it, they would be way more limited than 12k a year.

I actually just went back into previous threads because something about this seemed off to me and has since earlier in the week when I was commenting on it, and I think I figured out what it was.

they wanted to do 6k units for the first year (internally), but the public quote from last year was 10k units overall (worldwide) as per a public statement by the Toyota Europe boss, but then I was told they bumped it up to 12k at some point after that.

Somewhere along the line, that must have gotten confused for N.A, although I am unsure as to when that happened or why I thought that. I apologize.

Yeah, I understand the MKIV TT was much more expensive back in the day (I think it was closer to $50,000 at the time, which is around $85,000 today after accounting for inflation). But even so, 12,000 units for the first year in North America alone seemed like a very optimistic goal lol - thanks for clarifying A70TTR. By the way, have you heard anything further regarding North American sale targets in particular? As I mentioned above, I recall hearing that they were aiming for 3~4,000 for the first year.

yes, current N.A. target (at least for this year are) appears to be ~4k cars.

now that I seemingly figured out the confusion around the 6k/12k break down, this also makes more sense given the production we have seen reported from other markets as well.

I contacted a couple of dealers in my area - best price - about 4% off MSRP for 4 & 6 bangers. Anyway one has 8 and the other has 6 sitting on the lot. Saw a red Z4 at a strip mall the other day - it did look good. I must say it looked better than the red LE edition I saw parked downtown this past weekend. The LE red almost looked like they put a matte red wrap on it. However in terms of overall look - SUPRA - all day.

I thought the Z4 design wasn't too attractive in the pics compared to the Supra, but I saw a Z4 M40i in white with an old lady driving it while on the road. It looked way better in person. Both cars look fantastic!

given the current climate with global sales dropping like flies, I would guess that whatever number they predicted will be wrong today...

Yeah and the way Toyota is going with ADM, they are only shooting themselves in the foot.

Look how Z4 sales have started dropping. The MKV will take an even bigger hit next year when the C8 starts arriving.

The C8 is touring Southern California dealerships and allocations have already been filled because they are selling them at MSRP.

By the time the C8 shows up the mark ups on the Supra will be over. I also wouldn't be surprised if Toyota lowered the MSRP for the 2021 year model. I think Toyota should keep the B58C around. Use it as a strip base model (AKA 95 SE Supra) for like $40k. :D
