Ok, there is just too much info out there and I’m now throughly confused.
I have a 2020, stock, I just want to tune it With a basic tune to bump the power with 93 octane.

how do I do this? Do I have to have my ecu unlocked Before I tune?
how is this done, no one around my parts can tune these cars.
then how do I tune it? Do I buy an ots tune and load it somehow?

is there an all in one service for this?

I don’t want to ship my ecu, so then what?

You will have to check if your ecu is unlocked but more than likely it is locked which means it will need to be bench unlocked. This involves either sending your ecu off OR talk to @Marshall@ViscontiTuning they can remote unlock your ecu. At that point you will need a program like bootmod3, ecutek or MHD and the adapter and you can either put an OTS map on the car or get a custom tune.

It’s a 2020. It’s unlocked.

I was under the impression that some 2020 were still locked and needed a bench unlock. Not to say it can’t be unlocked but that it isn’t unlocked from the factory. Also if he had the service update done it will relock it

This is why I’m confused. I hear I do need to unlock and I don’t need to unlock.

If you buy something like the MHD flash tuner and download their app it can tell you if your ecu is unlocked or requires a bench unlock

Maybe, maybe not. Early 2020s were open, but later 2020s and any 2020 that has had its ECU updated at the dealership as part of a service or recall will be locked and need a bench unlock.

JB4 is a piggyback. It trickys the factory ECU into increasing boost pressure by telling the ECU the car is getting less boost.

ecutek and MHD are ECU flash solutions. Much better if your ECU is unlocked.

Yes. 100% go ecutek. Your tune might be a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

If you are looking for someone to unlock and tune in person, Mikey Botti will be traveling to Cali in November. Check out Gustavoo_MK5 on instagram since I believe he is coordinating the tuning session if you are interested.

*edit* Another option. If you want to get tuned, Marin Nelson @Marin@MarinTuned will be in Vegas next couple days and can unlock and tune in person.

Some 2020s are locked and some are need. Need a module to check the calibration ID to determine if unlock is needed or not.

This is why I’m confused. I hear I do need to unlock and I don’t need to unlock.
how can you tell?
Wont know without checking the calibration id with a module like the ecutek bluetooth device.
