I'll admit I originally planned/expected to upgrade the turbo soon after paying off the car. The car has now been paid off over a year but more power has dropped in priority. Certainly still on the list but my current order of operations is new truck, coilovers to finish off the suspension mods, and then I'll revisit going faster. If tracking was in the equation it would be a much different story but that will cut into the weights and golf so hasn't happened...if only there was more time in the day.
How about if we create a "Day #8" and call it Supraday?

Just wanna keep up with the Dodge's boats. Kidding of course.

It's a new, fun hobby for me. I like working on cars, it brings me joy... And frustration. And it's an excuse to buy more tools!

There's only so much joy I'm gonna get out of an oil change.

100%. I absolutely understand what 86/BRZ guys always say about "how much more fun it is to have a slower car so you can floor it and go through all the gears without committing a felony", but power is just too damn addictive. Going from a ~320 WHP bolt-on 370z to even a stock Supra felt like an entirely different stratosphere of power.
My thing is if the car is gonna be 3300lbs+ then it BETTER have good power, if not what's the point? And yeah you are absolutely right the 370z just always fell short even with FBO and a tune where as the Supra is great.

Since you brought the 86 into the conversation, I'm gonna controversially say
GR86 > Supra MkV > FRS > 370z

Or in my case K24 swapped BRZ > the rest

Dam, your lucky! I give mine 1/4 throttle and my old lady starts yelling stop!!!
??
I am! Fucking love the hell outta my wife. She’s my pit crew when I compete in races, will double duty my car with me in casual motorsports events like drift days, and doesn’t lose her shit when I spend retarded amounts of money on my cars. A couple months ago I raced a S550 Mustang GT coming up from San Antonio and we caught air at the top of 5th gear (~125mph) and she literally laughed in excitement. ?

Super exciting video. I can see why you need the extra power now.

In fairness, the car does feel noticeably different with an MHD Stage 2 OTS tune. Yes, it is plenty fast stock but having that little bit more (while maintaining reliability) isn't ever a bad thing.

No doubt but driving to Warrandyte the other day I noticed that about 5klm of the road has now been reduced from 80kph to 60kph, Faaaaaark. At this rate I'll be driving a freaking pedal car soon let alone considering more power.

yes Phil. All my race stories are entirely fabricated just so I can look cool to a bunch of complete strangers on a dying communication medium. All the trophies I have were purchased directly from a trophy shop and I somehow convinced my wife to post in a bikini with the fake championship trophy that she pretend pit crewed for. ;)

In all seriousness here is a little bit of background (long read sorry)
  • I live in Texas, USA.
  • Texas is the state with the fastest cars, leading the nation in sales of cars over 300 hp.
  • High-quality 93 octane and E85 fuels are widely available; 93 only costs ~$3.59/gallon (~$1.47 AUD/litre for 98 RON).
  • Texas has a larger motorsports enthusiast community than all of Australia.
  • I live 15 minutes from Circuit of the Americas, the USA’s top F1 track.
  • Texas has lenient vehicle laws; my 500hp Rx7 is inspection-exempt, and my engine-swapped BRZ passes inspection even without catalytic converters.
  • Our roads have the highest speed limits in the entire nation. SH-130 has a speed limit of 85MPH (137KMH) and people basically treat it like the autobahn. Guess which road I live right off of and take every single day on my commute? ;)
So it stands to reason that people race all the freakin time where I live, don't ya think? I once drove my Rx7 to the liquor store which is exactly 1.1 miles/3 minute drive from my house - and in that short drive I ended up racing a random S550 Mustang GT 3 times from stop to stop ?

Anyways, if you are ever in Austin I'd love to take you around in my Supra - you can also help me paint my garage walls.

Just watch out for the speed goats zipping across the freeway. I’ve seen nasty carnage from impacts at 100mph+.
