my 6ft tall buddy didn't have much of an issue fitting in the back of my A70 though so long as we moved the front seats up a bit. there wasn't much room, but it could be done and work alright.

the A80 was a different story, and the FD is ridiculous.

What's the chance this car will be a transaxle transmission equipped?

There has to be a reason why those rear vents are there, it's not for looks alone.

Then that could be excusable why only auto is available, since manual linkages for transaxle would probably suck.

I never tried anyone in my A70, I ripped the interior out as soon as I did the engine swap - which was as soon as I bought it haha

Unless the ZF8 is available in transaxle, it's doubtful, as awesome as it would be.

Depends if clutch is rear of engine or front of transaxle I guess. Rear of engine would be ok.

Porsche 911 and 718 have very good manual transmissions, so linkages or whatever should not be an issue if done correctly. Ford Ranger manual is terrible though.

There is a new ZF 8 Speed transaxle. I wonder why Maserati does not use it on the Quattroporte and GranTurismo (that are RWD), but Aston Martin has it. Of course this only works for RWD cars, not AWD like most of them today. But it certainly makes sense for the Supra/Z4 that are RWD only.

About 2800 lbs curb weight? Thanks for the laugh. Unless Toyota is planning on charging a huge premium for the car, that is never going to happen. Ditto for the transaxle.

Assuming the base US Supra is under $50k USD, Toyota will be doing very well to bring the car in at 3000 lbs. The same-sized Cayman, which is considerably more expensive, weighs in at 2988 lbs (mt).

I agree that 2800 lbs is just too light for them to achieve (I hope I'm wrong) especially for the 6cy model. My 2008 S2000 weighs 2800 lbs, the Toyota 86 weighs 2800 lbs, a new 718 cayman is 2900+ lbs. Just about the only affordable production car that weighs less and is not an econobox, is the Miata at just over 2300 lbs. Fingers crossed for sub 3,000lbs.

with how short the wheelbase is anticipated to be sub 3000 sounds quite realistic with perhaps the grmn spec

It's expected to be the exact same length as the Cayman according to the Best mag leak - 172". No reason to believe it
is going to be any lighter, especially since it will be 6 cyl vs. the 4 in the Cayman.

There's a reason that msrp is up there; you're basically getting a Cayman for way less money.
