It's your (or your GF's) car. If she thinks the car is worth the price, I'd recommend you just buy it. It is true that there is a major shortage of semi-conductors and resins in the auto industry that is shutting down factories world wide so it can be a very long wait.
That's a fair point. The problem isn't so much the price but the dealership themselves. As she described the manager as "Looked like he was ready to fight".

As posted above by Loco, there is one in NJ which is the config she wants and doesn't have the paint protection (she is going to get a full PPF wrap) or $1k CF mirrors (which we may add later). Loco said the sales people were strait forward.

I/we would rather take a 1 hour ride for a better experience. Their internet price isn't as much of a discount but the total cost is lower due to not including the options she doesn't want.

If that doesn't work out, she can just wait or (gulp) go back to today's dealer.

You did the right thing by walking...
Hate when sales people think they're the only option...
If you wanna make a sale you really shouldn't act like an asshat...

She'll find want she's looking for ?

Dealers do appear to forget the internet exists and that you can just go out and shop prices from multiple dealers before even leaving your house. Consider trying a TrueCar or another car buying service. Banks, credit unions, credit card companies, and membership-based businesses like Costco offer them. At the very least you could take the printout with the price for the car you want to a dealer and ask them to honor it. All the prices I got using TrueCar were below the advertised/sticker price. YMMV

Yeah thats the best option to just wait. I drove 4 hours for mine so 1 hour out isnt too bad. Dont worry about addons like CF mirrors or PPF as those can always be added later (especially the mirrors for cheaper). As far as Drivers assist, i dont think theres a single 3.0 out there that doesnt come with it. Even though you can spec without it on the website, i dont think i've ever seen one for sale that doesnt have it.

Folks here have given you an idea of what we’re paying. That said, if a dealer won’t give you a price you like, to avoid the usual back and forth BS, just tell them your number. Then tell them if you can do this price I’ll buy it right now. This usually cuts out a lot of the BS.

Good luck and remember they want to sell the car as much as you want to buy it......despite their attitude that says the opposite. personally, if I saw a car sitting around with a dead battery and dust on it I’d point it out .......nicely And say “ huh, these apparently aren’t moving”

Thanks - I feel comfortable with the decision. Here's the thing, buying from someone who treated us like this is saying their behavior is ok. It is not and walking is the only way to covey that.

If I were in his shoes, I would lose the emotions and say "I'm sorry we were not able to come to an agreement. Please shop around and if you want to go through with this deal we would be happy to do business with you".

Instead, he collected all the papers and left in a huff.

Great ideas - thanks. I was looking at the inventory of all the dealers in reasonable driving distance and found 4 matches. I also emailed the salesman Loco suggested but the NJ dealers are closed today.

I agree. Perhaps we stick to our principles too much but I would rather spend more money and drive further to be treated well.

I did find one that did not have the Driver Assist package but most do come with it.

The $400 PPF is a total waste as she is planning to wrap the entire car so it will need to be removed. The CF mirrors we'll add later.

Good plan - we have a baseline which we found at a NJ dealer's online price and will see if they can beat that by a few bucks when I call.

And it's hysterical these dealers are claiming how a car with cobwebs is "flying off the lot" .

Also to state they are the only dealer that has them, meanwhile 20 min away another dealer has 11!

Dear salesman, the internet is available to us too :)

i have a theory that I hope is wrong:hmm:

Just like your gf, I have settled on White being the color when I buy a Supra (waiting to pay off my other ride first, which would be my DD).

I am noticing that even though white is a popular color, there aren’t many white Supra’s in stock in my area. In fact, out of the 50 or so that have popped up in a search, only 4 are white 3.0’s. One is below MSRP, two are at MSRP and one is above MSRP.

Is white one of the most popular colors? And if so, are deals less likely to be made on white Supra’s if they aren’t sitting on dealer lots like some of the other colors? Again, hope I am totally wrong and my observation is off.

I had a hard time finding a white one back in 2019 as well. Most common colors in stock were: red and black.

I think the dealerships that are over msrp are just greedy...thinking they're sitting on a gold mine not realizing the "NEW" has worn off...

Individuals that pay more than sticker are fools in my opinion...
All you have to do is be patient and do a little research...

Unfortunately we're in in instant gratification world....

Off my soapbox...lol

From my current searching it seems that grey/tungsten is what they have and perhaps a black.

Yellow only seems common on the 2.0 and very few red.

There are a handful of whites which we are focusing on though.

What's funny is the salesmen have very strong opinions on which color we should get even if they have several in stock. Geez - if had their job I would be all "Great choice on color!" even if it was pink with polka dots.

I don't think the dealers got the memo that no one is lining up to get these anymore. I believe low stock is due to 1) low inventory and 2) impractical car with a niche customer base.

@spta97 ...
Sounds like you have get sense...
Don't give up on your search even if it means buying from cross country...

I've bought 3 cars from out of state...
The process is easy n lining up transport is relatively easy and most dealerships will assist with delivery...

Yes. It makes it easier when it's not my car :)

My gf is chomping at the bit but I hope we can close a deal this week or weekend.

My incentive is she doesn't like to drive my big truck (Armada) and I won't let her take the X3MC so I have to drive her everywhere!

The question is if this car is really for you or your girlfriend? Lmao hahahaha hahahaha I had a buddy back then when his gf got a brand new Evo 9 RS but he drove it everyday. When they broke up, he was so sad to say goodbye to the evo. Hahaha ?
