Would love to see a true MT!
A solid 400hp would be nice too.

As far as targa top, with both of my MKIV's being targa top, they both had issues...

-Going through a car wash, it would leak

-And at highway speeds was noisey
I tried over tightening the lock in points but it didn't help.
...But hey I could drive with the windows down! HA!

Now this could have been due to both cars being 'older' 1995/1997 and the targa top weather stripping being worn from age.

seems like things are looking at skipping 2022 on to 2023 for a big refresh if anything, like posted above.

If they update with a manual and targa, i would most likely be 100% in. If the update with stick only, i'd put it in the running with a list of "drivers cars" i'm waiting to be released (see list below). If they do neither im 100% out lol.

List of drivers cars i'm awaiting releases/stats/reviews on (ill be ready to purchase something new within the next year and I want to contribute to the "Save the manual" cause):

-BMW G87 M2 (if weight doesn't get out of control - latest M3/4 is 3900 lbs ?)
-Lotus Emira (Likely will out-price my budget in 6cyl manual form but maybe not)
-Nissan Z (has decent potential based on initial prototype reviews)
-Supra if they come out with manual in some form (hell i'd even consider a 4cyl manual - lighter weight and easily modded for more ponies)
-Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder (REALLLY stretching my budget but could survive)
I'm cross shopping the Supra with an RCF or IS500 (have kids). Only thing I'm waiting for is the 2022 announcement and mainly how Toyota handles some of the first year growing pains. A manual would be amazing but we'll see. Like others have said on other threads, with these delays happening and oil issues they're trying to fix, I wouldn't be surprised if 2022 is unchanged.

Love the Lexus interiors! Myself, I would lean toward the IS (Hopefully ISF or 500 like you said) I like the body lines better than the RC and of course the 4 doors with the kids is a huge plus for "growing pains" of their own

With the current power output being closer to 382whp there is already well over 400hp at the crank in the 3.0 : )

I hope they never have a manual. Auto is where itā€™s at these days!
Can't argue that as look at the worlds fastest cars and all supercars including the Koenigsegg Regera 1500hp stock! Not a traditional MT.

Those hypercars are in a completely different league and price compared to a Supra. Or a Corvette C8, BMW M2, Cayman GT4, any 911, R35 GTR, etc.

Powerful manual sportscars arenā€™t about the fastest 0-60 but rather maximum driver engagement. The fastest cars in the world are extremely impressive and fun but thereā€™s something still to be said for the fun of driving a manual sportscar with 400hp or more at the crank for those who like it.

Then again the non-race version of Gordon Murrayā€™s multi-million dollar T.50 supercar with a 600hp+ V12 comes with a bespoke 6-speed manual :D

Manual transmissions donā€™t have many years left before theyā€™re regulated out of new production. Until that day however itā€™s great to see some special cars still offering them.

The ā€œFā€ products always had a special place in my heart. Dad had a SC400 and a ISF. Iā€™ve always loved Supras too and told myself Iā€™m getting one of those beasts.

Man, Gordon Murray made his magnum opus for sure. Everything he did is based off of driver involvement and the use of your senses. Iā€™m sure Jay Leno will try to snag one ?

Love the Lexus interiors!

My wife drives any rcF....I wish my Supra interior was half as nice...
I love the seats. 100% better then the supras...IMO...

Car is fast but not Supra fast..lol
Torque takes for ever to come in on the rcF...
Trade offs I guess...

Yeah but most people getting into a RCF know that for the most part. Supra leans more on sport where the RCF leans more GT. They both have their place and both are great in their own way.

well... in my experience, 90% of manual drivers could not effectively drive automatic paddle shift... :D
Erm... thatā€™s not possible since in a vehicle with an automatic that has paddle shifters there is almost nothing complicated about flicking one paddle or the other to upshift or downshift with the ECU doing the rest of the work. Anyone can drive and operate the transmission of a paddle shift car with zero practice. Thatā€™s part of why they are appealing today for many.

Not the same case with a manual transmission vehicle where you have to learn how to coordinate the right input and balance of throttle and clutch pedal lift as well as choosing the right gear for the right level of engine speed once the clutch pressure plate begins pressing the disc to the flywheel.

I get it that clutch operation and manuals arenā€™t for everyone but really anyone can drive a paddle shift automatic vehicle. The rest is just practice to know how to best drive the car in general.... regardless of what transmission it has.
