Hey everyone,

Every other day I take my husky out to the dog park in the Supra, and I get away with keeping it pretty clean (aside from fur) by putting him in the hatch with a blanket down and reaching towards the center arm rest.
I wanted to find out if anyone knows of a better solution to keep a dog in the hatch, like a custom crate or something.

He fits just fine and is happy in the back, but it'd be nice if I could install a cage back there for him.

I live in SoCal, any advice is appreciated.

No I'm not getting rid of my dog or Supra, half the fun in taking him in it is seeing people's reaction to me loading/unloading him from the back ?

You are a brave person!

As an owner of two huskies all I have to say is that's what a wife's/husband's/significant other's car is for!

Seriously I admire that you are making it work and am interested to see if anyone has a solution.

This is how I get it done haha, but I worry one day he'll scratch at the seat's rear. He's a ticking time bomb for sure

That's awesome! My two won't go anywhere without the other. I can't imagine trying to fit both back there. Seems a great fit for one though.

You didn't even take out the cover? Not that there's space to stand up for a dog that size, but it's a little more wiggle room.

He actually likes the cover more, it's kind of like a den for him. The trunk is pretty deep, but yeah he can't stand in it, which I personally don't have a problem with since he shouldn't be moving around too much while I drive.

With the cover off he can definitely stand up, though it gives him the freedom to lick the rear window, which he likes to do for some reason.

Why not let him ride shotgun?

I highly doubt you'll find a manufactured crate that size that'll fit in the hatch...
Best of luck..

Steve

I have a dog liner in the passenger seat so the dogs nails canā€™t scratch the seats.
I also have a dog seat belt so my dog is safe in the front and is in a seated position.
I thought about the trunk but didnā€™t want hair on the speakers. Also have a husky

Need to start a Supra/Huskies owners group. I imagine most discussions will center around dog hair clogged my cabin air filter, and the times spent chasing the dog down the highway because they figured out the emergency trunk release and intentionally waited until you were in stop and go traffic to pull it.

You mind sharing which dog liner and dog seat belt you have for your Husky? Also, pics are required ? can't avoid the dog tax

Safest would be to put up some kind of netting behind the seats. In case of an accident that would catch him from flying through the windshield too.

I have a golden retriever that occasionally rides in the hatch. I just put a large blanket down and place pillow cases over the seatbacks for drool protection. Works pretty well!
