Hopefully a Supra
Video states Supra 2.0 is also underrated.... norm measurement to be 280 HP & ~306 ft-lb. Up from 255HP & 295 ft-lb

Conflicting data from DSPORT & video. Hopefully we can get more data points to determine if 2.0 are really underrated

*Edit: Wondering if the difference in gas octane has to do with difference in results. California only has 91 octane. DSPORT is based in California

I think the DSport car was suffering from heat related timing issues that many boosted cars have. Here's another dyno from California I found on here.

That definitely seems more realistic. Being able to hit 60 in the mid 4 second with a good launch tells a lot right off the bat. I just got the JB4 Tuner installed on Monday and have been working with Burger Motorsports all week on customizing the tune and getting it perfectly dialed in. We finally locked it in on Map 5 and it really really wakes this car up.

They said with this map and setup (stock MKV on 93 octane), I should be at 300WHP and even higher TQ at the wheels. Target boost is 22-23 PSI. With that converted to crank, give or take that would be around 370hp, so the horsepower gap from the 3.0 just shrunk considerably, while being 219 pounds lighter ;b

I went from the Golf R (tuned with the JB1) to a Type-R (tuned with the JB4). Launching the tuned Golf R would decimate just about anything from a stop. The Type-R of course was never built to be a 0-60 monster, but outside of that it was an incredible machine on back roads. While the MKV Supra is still very new to me, it's widely impressive on all fronts so far. Immense balance, near exotic like looks, wonderful interior and with the JB4 tune, she really rips now ;b Next up for fall or winter, I'll be going with a dp, retune and wheels. Would love to run E85, but want to wait a bit longer till more companies have had time to dial that aspect in on the B48.

I'd be scared to blow up the engine at this power level already, B48 is not as strong as B58, I heared piston rings get cracked easily on B48 at high nm levels = loss of compression = new engine. I myself wouldnt tune it over 320hp crank hp if I wanted to drive the car agressively a lot.

That's interesting! I thought I read both the B48/58 are internally the same save for 2 cylinders and a liter difference so why wouldn't it handle a simple 300-350whp just like the b58 can handle 100whp over stock and more. I was making 300whp on my 86 for 4 years straight and the FA20 isn't a motor built for boost. However I never tracked it so maybe the b48 would be fine with pulls here and there like I did on my 86

I've never had a single issue with using Burger Motorsports and their piggyback systems on any of my rides. These systems have a mountain of safety nets built-in to the tuning module, as well as allowing the factory ECU to take over the reigns if parameters are breached that the engine doesn't like for additional failsafe measures.

I completely agree that you have to be very careful with tuning on any platform. That's why I tend to lean towards the JB4 if supported, as it leaves no trace like a flash. From your phone, you can swap to Map 0 (which takes 2 seconds) and that makes it just a simple passthrough and your factory ECU is fully back in charge for everything. The dealer can even connect to your OBDII port (to say if you needed an update) and it wouldn't see a thing. When I picked my Supra up, there was a heavily modified one in the back that is a repeat customer of theirs, so that's always good to see they are mod friendly, especially the Supra tech there that is the only one allowed to touch them. Lots of guys run a flash tune alongside the JB4 too, b/c of how powerful and adjustable this tech really is. I have a buddy with a S3 that is likely going this route.

Burger Motorsports are also one of the most well known tuners in the BMW scene, with over a decade of supporting the brand and their many models with huge success Ando and Terry must have helped me edit a dozen or more data logs in great detail. Not a single CEL or misfire or issue during the whole process. They just had me make slight adjustments and then grab more data for them. It's so awesome to be able to do all of that directly from the JB4 app and we tested several maps out to ensure I had the absolute best fit, for solid, strong, reliable power.

I was told the same from Burger Motorsports. Basically the same block, missing those 2 additional cylinders. Both are closed deck design as well, making each very strong. Forged internals as well on the B48, minus the pistons.

Some people will obviously use too much boost, run a questionable tune or simply have a mechanical failure at some point; it can happen to any car, make or model. That's why it's nice to have the pro's pour serious R&D into their tuning solutions and performance parts, so we don't have to be the beta testers on what works and doesn't, LOL.

B48 and B58 are not the same. They are both closed deck but B48 dont have forged parts like B58 does to my knowledge, for sure not in the ammount the B58 has. Even B46 which is basically a lower emission/lower power B48 is already internally different. Also B48 in a Supra is a way different engine than 300hp B48 in M135i (diff turbo, pistons for example). Ppl think different B48 power levels are only in the tune which is untrue, they have mechanical differences as well.
I talked with a best BMW tuner here, they tunned literally thousands of BMW motors (they also do cars like AMG GT, Ferrari n/a engines etc so they really knows their stuff). Supra's too ofc, and they told me a realiable power level for B48 is 310-320hp to their experience (480-500hp easy for 3.0). They did modifications for 370+hp on 2.0 but they gave 0 warranty to the owner it wont blow up at this power levels and he is doing it for his own responsibility. AC Schnitzer also tunnes B48 to 300hp which is honnored by BMW warranty btw.
300whp on B48 is around 353hp at the crank with 15% drivetrain loss. That equalls to around 531hp on the 3.0 with the same 15% drivetrain lossess. I wouldnt call 177hp/l "simple". Let alone 350whp at 2.0.
I'm not saying it will blow up 1 week after tuning, maybe nothing will go wrong ever with some occasional pulls, dunno. For sure I wouldnt take it for a track beating without spare cash for new engine just in case :D Espeically since 2.0 doesnt have oil cooler like 3.0 has, so with much more heat after tunning I'd be even more worried.
I think 300-320hp is a sweetsport for a 2.0. If I'd like supercar acceleration I'd buy 3.0 and go for 500hp+ build ;)
Ofc everyone can do whatever they want, I'm just leaving my thoughts ;)

Little late to this thread but I too, have history with the jb4 and it absolutely functions as advertised. It does require some "maintenance" but that is true with any tune. If you pay attention and don't go for "rocketship" gains, it will do it's job in adding solid performance and safety.

If I wanted 3.0 performance, I would have gone with the 3.0. Personally, I like the 2.0 stock. Enough get up and go to quickly get around the "left lane huggers" and have fun shooting out of a curve......luv the car!!!!!

You do know the 2.0 have a oil cooler right? I think the 3.0 has both an engine and transmission oil cooler

2.0 has only transmission cooler and no engine oil cooler, as far as I know.
3.0 got both.

I realized the trans cooler is in the middle but what is the purpose of the heat exchanger in either the left or right intake vents?

Pretty much what the name implies.....helps pull heat away from the charged air entering the head
