Wow that is awesome wish I could hear it. Please send the pictures of the back area I am very interested
Alright, here you go. What you dont see, at both ends, a triangle is missing on both sides, a gap is currently visible. I left out the triangles for the time being because you can't see anything once the seats are moved back.

Like I said, they used the original cover and they cut the top and back off. They only used the part you see behind the seats. They had to cut the top of the original cover off, because they needed the room for the sub. Yes, i'm very happy with it. Nobody have ever noticed that there is somthing built together in the back. And because of the original cover it fits perfect around any corner of the storage compartment.

Hi, yes I think that is a good way to do it, maybe I need to just do that in my search for perfection.

Okay I did the Tada upgrade (ports, wadding, EQ adjustment, ASD, etc). It’s a big improvement. I really don’t want to spend $2-3K+ on speaker/sub upgrades but am wondering what the next best steps are on a budget. I saw the Bavsound speaker upgrade (both just the speakers without the subs aNd the subs). I like the idea of drop in replacements and really don’t want to splice wires and lose factory connectors. But I also don’t want to spend $700-1000 on something just marginally better.

I could go all in and get a good amp/dsp combo and some Morel components (big fan of Morel). But I’m just not sure it’s worth it since my next upgrade is louder exhaust and eventually catted down pipe.

Next step would be @tadda door enhancements.

After that the best option is the mObridge K2 amp/dsp. You can use this to power all your oem speakers and replace them as needed.

Hi guys, i've been lurking on this forum for a while now.
Decided to hop into the discussion since i stumbled apon something interesting from focals "inside" line.

produits-audio-focal-car-bmw.webp

They are plug&play dedicated to BMW. But since we all know whats inside our Supras i figure these would probably replace our 8' subs too? They look excatly like the factory H/K subs taken out of the enclosure and the same as the Bavsound.
I might just order 2, try them out and return them if needed.

Anyone had contact with these?

I'm an audiophile and I've always had an aftermarket sub and amp connected to the stock system to fill in the low end bass. Seems like all these "premium" audio systems are tuned to protect against blowing speakers or tuned for the general masses (very boomy). Also noticed the quality of speakers aren't as great compared to past generation Toyota speakers (90's ie.).

So here's a thread for those who will look into upgrading their Supra's audio in the future. I'd like to kill the factory amp, or kill the lines going to the 2 8" subs and put my own amp to drive those speakers. It just doesn't produce the proper frequency for the low end. An alternative may be to add an additional subwoofer (small of course) in the trunk just to fill in the low end. The mids and highs are very good tho. Although I had to tune the equalizer to get it to sound as natural as possible. The normal settings were really bad.

I'm sure someone will figure out the best and cleanest way to get some killer audio in this car.

Agree, I also did the Tada upgrade and it made a huge improvement. I would rather put money in the performance.

Replace the amp first before changing speakers.

I like the idea of the mObridge option. I was listening to the stock system a lot over the past three days and it’s really not bad. Even after the Tada DIY fix, I really think the biggest gap is still the low end. I have a leftover amp, I’m thinking about getting a 10-12” subwoofer and trying that next, and then do the door mods on the OEM speakers.

Those Focals shown are 4 ohm speakers... BMW has a few different stereo options offered such as "Hi-Fi", HK, etc...And depending on the system the subs as well as amplifier outputs are either 2, 4, or 8 ohms... You'd need 8 ohm to properly match them to our HK amp with requires 8 ohm loads...Yes, you could run 4 ohms, but might run the risk of damaging our HK amp's output drivers at higher volumes...

That said, the issue is not really with the Supra's OE HK woofers (after fixing some enclosure design issues) but moreso with Amp and it's associated DSP tuning...

Here is a writeup I did awhile ago evaluating / comparing the Bavsound Ghost Subs to the Supra's OE HK subs...

Bavsound Ghostsub Review: I really wanted to like them...

I have a leftover subwoofer amp and LOC from a previous vehicle. I have decided to add a 10" passive tube subwoofer that allows me to easily remove it for track events.

I also ordered he Technic PNP harness to add a subwoofer so no splicing or tapping. Nice and clean for $53 shipped.

I am hoping this will give me the additional bass I am looking for to give me enough to be happy, otherwise next steps is going with something like a Mobridge DSP/AMP and eventually updating speakers. But I will cross that bridge after I add new exhaust.

I've never found the signal from a LOC to be satisfactory with the factory EQ and bass roll off.
