For anyone who has a locked ECU, be sure and speak with Jesse Dabears ( @mkv_zupr4 or @DaBears ). He did such a phenomenal job on a custom 93 tune via the JB4, that I went ahead and ordered the Fuel-it Ethanol Kit and got started immediately on a E30 Map. The timing is perfect and the powerband is so smooth and strong now.
It's a conservative tune but to no surprise, is night and day difference from OEM...especially on the E30 blend! I'm a couple tenths from hitting upper 3s for 0-60 (logged with Dragy) and that's with lots of room left for improvement from the launch on my side. Jesse worked with me for weeks getting everything dialed in perfectly. Lots of data logging, dozens of pulls (never one issue or CEL, minus the Wastegate adaption process which is totally normal on this platform and the JB4 explained this in the code retrieval) and I was able to learn a ton from him on the JB4 piggyback system. I used this on my Type-R and Golf R as well with zero issues.
The B48 is very responsive and in the right hands is a fantastic powerplant for those wanting the significantly lighter model with an fairly big edge through the twisties. We are looking at around 320whp and 350wtq on the E30 map, so this is a very nice bump in power and speed for those wanting performance close to the stock 3.0 numbers. The power to weight ratio is quite healthy now ;b
Looking to do exhaust next, so if anyone has recommendations please let me know!
