I only have a vibration in the wheel after a hard brake like after a 1/4 mile run, my next braking events from speed will have what feels like a warped rotor. But goes away after the rotor cools.

otherwise my wheel doesn’t vibrate at all. What my car DOES have is this resonating frequency I can hear. Like the OP posted. In my experience I would say a bad wheel bearing. BUT it doesn’t change tone or anything during any type of movement say like a sweeper. I thought it was just the Nitto Invo tires. But reading this makes me think otherwise. I’m surprised to read a driveshaft fixed one guys issue. My driveshaft in my mustang caused the whole car to have a slight vibration, not just the steering wheel. And this really sounds like it’s up front.

I haven’t seen any aftermarket driveshafts for these cars. if mine gets worse I’ll start looking into it.

Update: got a road force balance done at a local shop.

The rep there said that they could not have done a road force balance at my Toyota dealer because when they ran the numbers the car was off

So hopefully the road force balance fixes everything. I know a few of you had that done and it still didn't fix anything. Good luck to everyone who still has issues

What the heck is a "road force balance?"

I didn't know what it was until this week either
Interesting - thanks for the information. I'm assuming this is a service tire shops charge more for over a "standard" balance?

You would think so, but the independent shop charged me less for the road force balancing than my dealer charged me for the standard balancing ?

*edit

Yea the road force balancing didn't fix my issue. I might just be prepared to live with it

Sheesh. Had a second car during this? I want to leave it there the least amount of time, did you just leave it while parts were coming in?

I've tried the options as I see them beginning with dealers and Toyota and no result so far in diagnosing this harmonic like rising/ falling resonance.
I'd just encourage all that have this issue to check in here, maybe with enough numbers reported we can get Toyota to listen. For all we know they are working the problem but have no answers.
More, I think this is a BMW design issue which really puts us in a tough position.
In any case I'm focusing on the problem instead of tossing more criticism though it's frustrating to pay $$ and have an undiagnosed issue.

I made an appointment with my dealer Monday morning citing that I want them to look at my driveshaft. We'll see what comes of that.

After extensive googling, I found an independent BMW specialist shop that apparently also takes in other cars. And their reviews blow the reviews for my dealer's service department out of the water.

If I'm not satisfied with my dealer on Monday I might just take my car to this independent shop.

Would toyota cover the warranty work if repaired at a different shop?

great to know the driveshaft fixed it! Im taking mine to the dealer next week for this same problem. Hopefully I can just ask them to also take a look at the driveshaft as the cause.

Be interesting to see how this goes if theres no visual clue but an imbalance and if your dealer will replace based on internet as a source.

My luck isn't the best. I had my car at the dealer for 1.5 hours today only for the rep to come and tell me that he realized that the supra specialist isn't in and that I might have to leave the car with them for the day or bring in the car again tomorrow.

I chose just to take the car home for the day.

I guess I'll just choose to look at the bright side in that it seems they're taking my problem seriously and not brushing me off saying the vibration is normal? Idk ?

*edit

Took my car back from the dealer. Service advisor said multiple techs apparently test drove my ca, including himself and they're saying they don't find anything wrong with the car

So this is a dead end for now

Idk how i didn't see this post before. I don't think so.
I have two bits of info that bears on this issue-
1. Toyota technician said Toyota is tough, hard to convince of legitimacy on warranty defects.
2. Ever watch " Car Wizard" on youtube channel? I contacted him about looking into this considering his taking on some pretty challenging issues on European cars. His response was he does not work on cars covered by oem warranty because that negates the warranty terms.
My opinion- Toyota would pass on covering repair cost if done in a non-Toyota service center.

My vibration has returned. I just yesterday had a chance to drive it on the interstate and the vibration is still there. So I guess it wasn't the driveshaft.
