Do you consider the Supra a "young persons" car?

I've always considered the MKV to be an entry level sports car. As far as being a young person's car, to the younger crowd sure it may seem odd to see an old dude driving one of these. I'm 32 and I find it odd seeing a young person drive a Corvette. I guess you expect certain types of people to drive certain types of cars.
Entry level? At 50k plus? Yeah, no. Entry level would be a Miata or a GR86. And, Iā€™m 61 and buying a GR86.

I live in a pretty decent trailer park where it seems like every other place has a new/newish Vette sitting the garage. (Seriously there are over 2000 Vettes hereā€¦)

Me rolling up in a Supra is certainly a rarity. Yes, I am older than most of you others on this thread, but quite agile enough to get in and out of this thing quite easily.

I sold a super sweet 370Z Roadster when I was faced with a major health dilemma so the wife would not have to try to sell it in my absence.

Then her and I agreed that if I survived I would go get whatever I wanted to drive. Supra was definetly my first choice.

Long story short, ā€¦. I lived, I rollā€¦ ?

But despite me being older, I do think this is typically a car associated with a younger personā€¦.

(Now if someone could just help me remember where I parked it atā€¦ ā€¦.I remember going to the store to pick up that Metamucilā€¦ ?)

I'd consider it more in the mid range with the M2C, Cayman, ZL1, and the GT350. Entry level would be Miatas, BRZ/86s, base Mustangs/Camaros/Challengers (the ones who get railed on for not being V8s), and Golf GTIs. I'd make a case there's an "entry premium" range where the 2.0, 370Z -> new Z, the base V8 ponies, Golf R, and WRX sit.

Last week I borrowed my sister's Leaf to pick up my niece and nephew from school. As I left her house, I saw two high school girls taking selfies with my Supra. ?

I am 44. I grew up thinking the Corvette is an old man's car. Specifically, a grey-haired, pony-tailed old man's car. In my mind, the Supra is more an everyman's car.

I figured as much. What's your take on it Because of price? Looks? 55k vs 65k.
55k you get loaded Supra vs maybe 2LT C8, not the top model. Or is it American vs Japanese/BMW thing? Or is the 'vette more of a dad's car? Even with C7s...
With that don't know what to think of Mustang's either.
Iā€™ve owned a c8 before the Supra. Every corvette meet was horrible, I was always the only person without grey hair every time. None of these old folks would even imagine street racing or brining it to the track. People my age did react pretty good about it but I want more of a community of other owners.

Mustangs are cool tho, just want something lighter and more rare. Not like the vette at all. Price didnā€™t really matter to me. This isnā€™t an Ā« entry level Ā» sports car. Thatā€™s the Miata, BRZ, 86, 370, 30-45k type car.

I will be a super car owner eventually but I probably wonā€™t have as much fun with a aventador/488 that I would with our Supraā€™s. We mod the balls out of these things without fear of much. If I blew my turboā€¦ ??ā€ā™‚. oh well, buy a pure 800! Park it anywhere without worry, unlike a super car. Itā€™s nice. Iā€™m really happy with what we got

I don't think its a young persons car, I'm 23 and most owners I've seen are 28+. Most young people can't even afford the car

I'm 65 and for most of my driving career (45+ yrs) in which I've been fortunate to have owned many types of sports cars, I really have never viewed any of them as age specific...Same goes for the Supra....

I don't see it that way, but some certainly do. I had a coworker call it a "young man's car" recently and I was surprised. I was considering putting a deposit down on the new Z06 and talking to him about it, and he said that the Z06 is a car "better suited for my age group." I'm 44yo. I think it's because Toyota has a problem with the "Supra" moniker being associated with 20yo's street racing, coffee can exhausts, neon under the car, big loud stereos, etc. Basically the Fast ad Furious crowd. That's my take on it.

Edit: No offense to 20yo's who like to street race, have coffee can exhausts, neon under the car, and thumping stereos.

Honestly speaking Supra MKV could not be considered a young person's car for millennials and below. It's refined, comfortable, fast and luxurious to a point and more expensive than a young fellas car.
That's why for ages hot hatches were/are so popular. Less refined, affordable, dingable and much cheaper to tune.
What age do you think millenials are? Millenials are literally the target market for this car.

The millenial age range in 2021 is 25 ā€“ 40. Looking at the other thread with the age poll, this seems to line up perfectly.

~ Yeah Iā€™m 53 and love my Supra.

The only issue with some older parties (undefined) is the ability to enter and exit the car.

Who cares about age? Just drive what you wanna drive and live your best life.

Shit, people think Rolls Royce are for super retired people, but if someone gave me one right now I'd take that shit and drive it. :p

Just remember, people who are like high school and college age tend to think anything past 25 is old. As someone who turned 31, I am reminded of that everytime I go on the mic when I play some Playstation.
