I will be installing an Armytrix catless downpipe, FTP charge pipe, Armaspeed carbon intake, and JB4 on 93 pump. What map is a fun/safe map to run? I don't need balls to the wall power. @zrk @Jesse DaBears

From another comment of mine:

Absolute vs Relative boost addition.

Map0: Stock tuning, fully disable JB4
Map1: Additive map with peak of 3psi over stock added (91 octane)
Map2: Additive map with peak of 4psi over stock added (91-93 octane)
Map3: Additive map with peak of 6psi over stock added (93+ octane)
Map4: Absolute target map with peak of 20psi target (93+ and/or E30 octane)
Map5: Absolute target map with peak of 22psi target (E30+ fuel)

Maps 4 and 5 have absolute boost targets. Meaning they target say 20psi or 22psi respectively.

Additive or Relative maps add boost to whatever you have. Map 3 for example is much more "risky" than map 4. A target of 20psi is sane, but on map 3, if the ECU is attempting to reach 16psi (Low DA, great fuel, no knock, whatever), JB4 is going to request 22psi.

Just in case you didn't see my edit, I just woke up, and accidentally typed 3, you don't want 3. Make sure you take logs.
What's wrong with Map 3? I run map 3 on 93.

Map this is a high-power relative map. It adds as much as 6psi to <whatever the car is requesting>. Which is dynamic. If the car is requesting say, 17psi based on conditions, the ECU JB4 is going to tell the ECU to actually request 23psi, which is far far too much boost without better/more fuel. In this case, you'll also prematurely wear out the turbo and potentially hurt a cylinder from running lean.

Thanks for the info zrk. I may just go ahead and get a tune by Jesse since my A90 is my DD.

Do it. The powerband will feel completely different.
Yea I’ve only heard good things about Jesse and seen some of your posts.

My biggest complaint right now on the stock maps is that they have this “rubber band” feel on throttle response and power delivery.

:hmm: But shiii… just purchased the tune service.

Okay, Which would you choose if you were me map 2 or 4?

One of the bimmerpost subforums (one of the earlier cars that used the B58, I don't remember which) has plenty of examples of people with blown turbos running map3.

Yea I'm going to switch to Map 2 until my custom tune comes in. Appreciate it.
