I consider it a BMW. I buy BMW parts, I pull the BMW engine out, I deal with BMW things constantly. I consider it a BMW. I never consider it to really be anything other than the endless parts I buy.

I guess it's because I consider it B58 Powered Race Car.

I JUST asked my co worker who is half white and half black. He said "What does it matter? We all eat and shit the same way right?"

I m taking him out to eat lunch now so we can eat and shit like anyone else.

Hope this cures your curiosity OP. Oh and please tell me the proper way to pronounce TOMATO please..😓 😪

I voted BMW, but really don't care. To me it's a BMW built car. Toyota designed the body and chassis dynamics, but it's built by BMW. Same as my FRS was a Subaru, built by Subaru. No matter how many Toyota badges and GT86 badges I put on it, it was still a Subaru, and I was ok with that. As I have gotten older, I think I care way more about "luxuries" than anything else. I look at a 13 FRS now and well any GR86 also and think it's no way worth it to me to buy one. I want more of the "luxuries". I think one of the reasons I was looking at a RAM 1500 Limited was because how stupid nice it was inside. I guess that's what I just really care about and why I really decided to get a Supra. I do believe if it was built by Toyota, I'm not sure it would've had the same appeal to me. I get in Toyota's "top of the line" vehicles and just not that impressed. The Mazda's and Honda's in the same category's just blow Toyota away, not even going to mention any of the German built cars.

I guess it depends on the context of the question.

If you mean objectively, it is absolutely a Toyota. That is the legal make of the car. When you input the car's make/model, you don't pick BMW Supra. End of story. Doesn't matter what MKIV keyboard warriors think about it, their opinion doesn't matter.

If you mean from a practical, more abstract ownership perspective - I consider it a BMW. zrk already said it:

The day-to-day interactions are very much BMW. I straight up use bimmercode to tweak the car. You take it to the Toyota dealership and they don't know wtf to do with it.

I really wish Toyota would have just had BMW dealerships service this car, would have avoided so many headaches for folks. But I get that logistically such an arrangement was probably impossible, both from a PR perspective and sales perspective.

It's insured as a Toyota (cheaper than my A45s!) so it's a Toyota to me

To me I don't look at it like that. I like both companies so to me it really doesn't matter.

It's a Toyota. I bought it from Toyota dealership, I shopped for it on Toyota website, I tell people it's a Toyota, I enter Toyota as make when searching for new toys.
Be funny if you bought a used Z4 at the Toyota dealership.

Is the Mclaren F1 a BMW?
Is the Tesla Roadster a Louts?
Is the Lotus Elise a Toyota?
Is an Aston Martin a Scion???..... 😂
YES.
NO.
YES (unless it's a Honda)
YES (but wait... is the Cygnet really an Aston Martin at all?)

It's a Lamborghini a Volkswagen?
NO(ish) - but this one definitely is. And by similar logic... this Golf is a Lamborghini.

I've left an apple on your desk and I'm hoping for an A on this test.

Well this is a Toyota for sure. I bought an extended warranty that covers 8 years for $1070. You can't get that with a BMW.

I got 2 years free oil change from Toyotacare, BMW doesn't have that for their cars.

I went in for 3rd year oil change and Toyota quoted me $199 for the oil change but then offered me an additional 2 year Toyotacare for $150. No way a BMW service dept would offer to save you money.

I bought the Launch Edition with the automatic because Toyota said they had no plans to come out with a Manual version. But to learned that was something they had planned all along to keep interest high on the cars, offer the manual later and lie to you about it during launch. BMW would never do that shit, they would straight up give you the best upfront. So definitely, this is a Toyota.
