Was the OEM springs stiffer than the Z4 Eibachs???Just a quick mention for anyone doing a lot of tracking. Under high speeds and compression these springs may be too low (or perhaps soft). I’m getting tire rub & therefore switching to Ohlins coilovers. Just wanted y’all to be aware - if your intent is to do lots of track days. Also, I’m on 275/35-18 tires. Great size for different brands, compounds and ability to rotate. But it does contribute to a lower profile.
No hating on Eibach by any means. I have their sway bars and love em. These springs would be great at canyon carving, for looks or maybe even okay on track with the stock wheels?
I don’t launch my car from a stop so I can’t comment on the wheel hop issue, but I do track my car. The car is less prone to being unsettled over rough patches (like ruble strips) or sudden suspension unloads and reloads (like cresting hills), and the oversteer from things like trail-braking is still very controllable and useable. Comfort feels the same. I really like the setup, but it still has too much body roll for me so I’m installing adjustable sway bars tonight.
The OEM springs provided a height that won’t cause rub on track. The Ohlins are way stiffer. Or at least you can adjust (dial in) the stiffness to your liking. Was the OEM springs stiffer than the Z4 Eibachs???
This exactly. The Ohlins were night and day on track. Since my intention was to track on a regular basis, I should have done this from the start. My Eibach spring rub was significant with track use. However for street use, the look and feel was great.the Eibachs are stiffer then the stock springs and it’s not barely noticeable, you will feel that a lot when driving bumpy roads even on normal
But they are a good compromise between dropheight and stiffness and are fun to drive at least for me.
It’s a cheap quick and reliable mod you can do.
But as FLTrackdays said they are not recommended if you are pushing the car to the limit on track days. When going hard corners the chassis will scratch your tires even on stock wheels 35/R19.
If you want to do some track days and drive it daily you can use a different suspension.
I don’t know the popular brands from the states, here in Europe we have f.e. KW which also offers a plug and play DDC suspension which means you can use the stock hard/soft setting when using normal/sports mode and you can set height and stiffness.
Yes, this was the hardest part in the rear for me -was jacking the arm up just a bit at a time until everything lined up to get the bolt through. So I just finished the install. Looks and rides great! In non-sports mode, the springs actually feel more compliant! Just a few tips for those that are about to install some new springs: Invest in some pin alignment tools: GEARWRENCH 4 Pc. Long Taper Punch Set - 82307 https://a.co/d/4zH7S6m
This helped tremendously with aliging the holes in the bushings/knuckles. Also another tip: Jack the lower portion (can’t recall part name) that holds lower end of strut and spring up to the same height as the knuckle’s resting point. It will help remove and reinstall the bolts much easier
Were you running spacers on the stock wheels when you were rubbing on track?the Eibachs are stiffer then the stock springs and it’s not barely noticeable, you will feel that a lot when driving bumpy roads even on normal

Mine rubbed with and w/out spacers. But you are correct, with too much overhang, it’s worse. The tire cuts into the wheel well. Which happens to be our hood.I’m curious if it would rub without the spacers
Yeah I'd guess the stock front size might be fine. Your setup is nearly an inch wider than stock.Mine rubbed with and w/out spacers. But you are correct, with too much overhang, it’s worse. The tire cuts into the wheel well. Which happens to be our hood.
This may not happen to you on a stock setup ?. I am running a 275/35-18 square setup. Which put me too low at track speeds. Again, in town this is not an issue.
This looks fantastic and is exactly the look I'm going for - helps to see these on the same color! Have been leaning this way all along, but planning to do some minor tracking (doubt it will be more than 2-4 times per year and if more I'm sure I'll just swap over to coilovers) and then some recent posts that these are "much stiffer" has had be a little nervous. Doesn't sound to be the case from your experience so far (in terms of drivability/stiffness).Had these springs installed with 10mm front and 13mm rear spacers. Exactly the look I'm going for thanks to the OP for the tips!
Have about 50 miles on them, no alignment yet, car tracks super straight so far, feels pretty much stock. Front wheel camber looks a little more negative than I remember stock.
I can't feel the difference in everyday driving. I can imagine how the tires would rub the wheel wells under hard compression at the track or in corners, the springs do not feel that much stiffer if at all. Sure looks nice though! ? About a 1.75-2 finger gap front and rear, I definitely would not want the front too much lower for street driving.
did you cut the bump stops ?? Getting conflicted answers by people who installed these springsHad these springs installed with 10mm front and 13mm rear spacers. Exactly the look I'm going for thanks to the OP for the tips!
