Huh, never knew of such a kit. Quick-Grip always did the job for me. May be picking this up in the future.Harbor Freight brake kit. $48. Ive used this stupid thing so many times.

If they're going to be replaced for "free" anyways, why wouldn't you just buy the better ones out of the gate? Just thinking out loud again, and I'm very curious as to the weight difference between them. I know extra unsprung mass makes an exponential difference in the behavior of the steering & suspension systems.I'm planning on doing 10+ track events this Summer and cost is definitely a consideration as I expect to burn through these rotors in no time. Also I ordered from FCP Euro (about an hours drive from my house) so I'll take advantage of their outstanding return policy and return these rotors for "free" new ones when they're done.
Because I'm a cheap bastard I guess. Honestly the very minor benefits of the Brembo OEM rotors just aren't worth the added cost in my opinion. Especially given that there's at least one track days worth of $$$ delta. If they're going to be replaced for "free" anyways, why wouldn't you just buy the better ones out of the gate?
Unsprung mass is indeed bad, but there's really not much of a weight difference at all. The majority of the mass of the rotor is still concentrated in the same region and the moment of inertia is likely very similar between the two. The lightweight 18" tire/wheel package is going to have WAY more effect on the vehicle dynamics.Just thinking out loud again, and I'm very curious as to the weight difference between them. I found out the OE Brembo composite front rotors weigh 12.4 kg (27.337 lbs) each, so I'd love to find the exact weight of the full-cast irons.Unsprung mass is indeed bad, but there's really not much of a weight difference at all. Around 30 lbs, but like @decodeddiesel stated, the additional weight is in the axle center, so will be less of a noticeable difference if it was out at the outer diameter.I found out the OE Brembo composite front rotors weigh 12.4 kg (27.337 lbs) each, so I'd love to find the exact weight of the full-cast irons.
Love how it gives that subtle accent!Broke down and finally bought this. Now that it's in, the price IS worth it!
Which one did you go with? Link?Broke down and finally bought this. Now that it's in, the price IS worth it!

I'm assuming the obvious happened - you beat his time in the bmw and he was a solid 5 seconds off your Supra pace? Honestly - that sounds really cool.Got to drive a real bmw race car at real track speed and in exchange a real Pirelli GT4 pro driver drove my Supra
No. We both went 75% effort or so. I could have driven that m2 all day. Nothing like a factory race car no matter what we do to ours. The video game steering wheel would take a bit to get used to.I'm assuming the obvious happened - you beat his time in the bmw and he was a solid 5 seconds off your Supra pace?
