It's all one piece, so I would imagine you'll be waiting on the aftermarket for the retaining ring on the bezel.
I was afraid of that. I had started working on replicating it but none of the sides are at a 90* for me to use as a proper reference for dimensions. Guess I'll just keep 3d printing versions until I get the exact shape.

If you get it figured out, you should consider making and selling them on Etsy or somewhere.

I can imagine that down the road I will tire of the OEM knob and want to go custom, at which point I'll want a custom shift boot as well. I'd just as soon not ruin an OEM knob/boot to cannibalize the mounting ring.

I have thought about just making a mold to replicate the part out of epoxy but haven't sat down to really look into what I may need.

Wouldn't it be quicker to find someone to 3d scan it and then print it?

I actually ordered one from Raceseng yesterday as well. I saw no point in getting a shift knob from BF that was essentially the same size, shape, and weight as the stock knob. If I'm gonna bother messing around with it, I wanted a different shape, color, material, and most importantly weight from the original 200 gram. I went with a Contour 500 gram, in textured red. Really excited to see how it feels!

So I installed this and am finally getting around to posting about it. I cut the stock boot 3/4" from the bottom of the knob sleeve like the others did, and that worked out well. The Raceseng Contour sits at the same height as the stock knob, and is extremely secure with the included adapter..

Overall, I'm very pleased with how it came out. I simply tucked the boot into the little gap under the knob, and it's staying put just fine. This metal beast at 500gr (stock is 200gr) completely changes the feel of the shift action. It removed some of the notchy feel, while greatly reducing the effort needed to row the gears overall. Lastly, going into reverse is so easy now, that I have done it by mistake while shimmying the car back and forth an attempt to turn the car around within the borders of my driveway... Overall 9/10, do recommend!

I just wish they'd make these without the markings etched onto the top for a nice and smooth finish. Ugh.

It should give you the option but you can shoot them an email just to double check in case there was something missing in the website. The drop down when looking at the knob I ordered and several others always has a no engraving option.

They do. As dumb as it sounds, I just wanted a pattern on there so friends and family, that may end up driving the car on occasion, actually have a visual reference of the gate pattern for a vehicle which is unfamiliar to them.

You've just made my day. I actually reached out to them and asked the question. Awesome. Thanks!

Did my install of the Raceseng knob with collar and I will definitely be buying the red Nitro with the dimples after returning this one that was used for testing purposes. I did cut a bit higher than
Prado150, 3/4" from the base of the OEM knob in my case. I do not have any tugging but I would recommend anyone else trying this to cut at this height as a minimum, if they can cut 1" from the bottom even better because it will also make it easier to tie down the boot.

Looks good. Raceng support says the collar doesn't fit our cars? How was fitment?

They offer two types of collars. The one for the threaded adapter is the one that doesn't work on our cars because of the BMW style shifter. Using the collar for the non-threaded adapter was no problem to me. Hope these pictures can help clear up how everything fits together.

I respect the work on this. But no offense the stock knob looks better than all these options imho.

if there is a way to adapt something like a ARC counterweighted knob I’d probably do something like that. Also I hope some aftermarket company makes a short shifter setup.

Some of us just do not like any alcantara on surfaces where the hands go cuz it will get ugly real fast ?‍♂ .

Not familiar with that brand but Raceseng has the adapter so you could email them to see what thread is on it. Might be able to adapt the ARC to that. You could also get a die to cut threads on the OEM shift lever but goes back to what the ARC needs. The lever diameter might not match the threads you have to cut which will further complicate how you can tackle this.

1 or 2 companies were working on a short shifter option but I have yet to even see an update of it in social media. Since our throws are already shorter than other stock BMW most of the available options might not provide any benefit to our platform.
