Gazoo Racing Supra confirmed with new 3JZ and 500 horse powers. :drive:
Wouldn't that be nice! I'm still hoping for them to say "Surprise! We reworked the 2JZ and are re-releasing the mkiv with all updated stuff and selling a limited quantity"

I’d pay serious loot for something like that. Hell, I’d pay serious money for something FAST from Toyota in general.

...by serious money I mean GTR money haha

A retractable spoiler would definitely break the internet.

Jk, I really hope it's something engine/chassis related.

Well Tada and one or two other engineers did say in more than one interview that the MKV was "still being developed" so that cannot be a coincidence.

Performance, it's funny that I mentioned the MKV to you just the other day and you had said at the time that you had zero interest and were disappointed. And now I see the last few pages of this thread ;)

It's really an interesting time to be a Supra enthusiast.

To break the internet, there would have to be a radical shift in performance/price point. Right now, it's laughably bad. 50-60k for 370z performance and BMW reliability, only available in auto is DOA.

Simply to be competitive, hp needs a bump to high 400 low 500s. That just gets you on equal footing with a dozen cars already available in that price range. That alone, I wouldn't think would break the net. More in lines with folks being able to say this is where it should have been from the start. To get people talking, it would also need a price drop into the 40s with the hp bump. Toyota is the largest auto maker in the world, thinking they can't do what litteraly every domestic can do, even with when BMW subsidizing a huge chunk of the dev cost, is just stupid.

Have to buy the rumored LC-F for that or If you have some serious cash a LFA.
A Supra ist still just a sports car and not a super car.

Personally i think something is afoot.

If this was just the BMW engine, then why the big wait to reveal the car? Were being told it will be shown in Jan, but wont be available to drive in europe until August at the earliest. Thats 8 months from reveal to getting 900 cars out. Toyota could produce 900 cars in a weekend if they wanted to.

To me this suggests far more changes than just a few minor engine mods that leads to the toyota version of the Z4 taking a yr longer to be revealed.

Either way... my deposit is down, and im bloody curious.

Well, to be fair what exactly is it that’s compared to 370z performance? Don’t just look at the numbers (which we still have no definite fact on final weight and hp figures)

If it rings true I would take a guess at 0-60 figures in the high 3’s to low 4’s like 4-4.1, quarter times in the low 12’s to high 11’s pushing it. Certainly not 370z performance

Second the 1997 and 1998 Supra TT had a sticker price of 39,900 I recall. I remember walking into the dealership and they had a quick silver one brand new. Anyways, to suggest 40k 20 years later on a car this caliber is absurd, just my two cents

50-60k range isn’t bad at all for this type of car, but we have to wait and see, up hold judgement since nothing is concrete.

Me reading this whole thread....

Just when i had almost lost all hopes in Toyota, this little bit of information that has other skeptics interested again, has me curious. Im still not set on buying this car anytime soon (cant afford it), and i definitely wont be selling my MKIV for one, but i would be super satisfied to see a proper successor!

Based on the latest intel that some of the folks on this forum had received, it gives me renewed hope that Tada-san will remain true to his words when he hinted about the A90 Supra back in 2012:

"With my next sportscar," explains Tada-san, "I want to make a big... ‘wow'." His arms gesticulate large vortex circles. "Nobody expected us to build something like the GT 86. I want to give the world a shock."

- Tada-san, Toyota Chief Engineer

 You guys are some believers...the car adjusted for inflation today is 65k. The car then had 320 hp. I don't know why your expectations are so high. :dunno:

PerformanceSound is a GTR enthusiast....the GTR comes with a DCT (aka not a stick). If he is okay with the GTR not having a manual I am guessing that he is fine with the MKV not having a manual.....as long as the engine and performance is up to par. Given he is somewhat a believer after these rumors...my guess is Toyota has been developing a tweaked version of the b58. Tweaked enough and different enough to be a unique and special motor.

What if they are planning to hand build a special version of the b58 for the top trim:hmm:

Is this where we see the 7700 rpm come into play?
