It won't have high volume, but the fact that their premier car, that everyone has been pining for is a pos... That will get huge play in the media.

Much more damaging that your best of the best car, will leave you stranded.
It's not that deep.

No one has said it's a pos

The corolla/RAV4/Camry buyer doesn't care at all.

This talk of how the engine will not work out well reliability-wise is amusing IMO because from all I have read and learned to date Tada and his engineering team supposedly sent a ridiculous number of B58 and chassis components back to Japan for reliability and durability testing under whatever Toyota's standards and guidelines are.

Of all the interviews out there now I don't know which link has this content but it came from Tada himself in an answer to one or more questions.

I have no idea what they've changed from the co-developed B58 other than what we've all seen in those leaked parts catalog specs but according to Tada he surprised the BMW engineers with just how much testing all the engine and chassis components went through.

The suggestion being: in the eyes of BMW engineers Toyota went overkill to make sure that parts for the Supra MKV met reliability and performance targets that BMW's aren't usually rated for and generally aren't bothered with.... for BMW's anyway.

This isn't the first time that Toyota has taken an existing engine design and re-engineered it to be what they wanted it to be.

I think the bigger concerns are what the overall trim packages will offer for the price points asked.

And your entire post is invalidated by the fact we have seen the parts list from the realoem leak. Bog standard, parts bin BMW parts.

I guess that means everything that Tetsuya Tada has stated on the record regrading this car is also completely invalidated as well.

... Which would then mean that there isn't even an MKV Supra at all in any form whatsoever. Yes, it must have all been one big vaporware troll by Toyota and BMW

With all due respect, I'll trust what has been said on the record from the horse's mouth and from what scant insider information has been put out there and confirmed to date.

If you read back a few pages you will find more than one suggestion that it is entirely possible the realoem specs represent either just one trim level or weren't even a finalized listing of parts for any of the 6-cylinder trim levels.

Not to mention, it seems they aren't yet done developing every single trim level so it's possible that whatever Performance, A70 and Guff have been reacting to hasn't even had time to be included yet.

The realoem leak is hardly valid. How do you explain that every trim has only sunroof controls on a car we have never seen with a sunroof? Or a car with an integrated exhaust manifold yet every engine bay shot shows 6 exhaust ports?

He is 110% right! We (including myself) assumed that Toyota was working on one platform, two trims, etc... but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. They are doing some out of the ordinary stuff.....and I too want to know more, but I am limited to the info. Hopefully more info this weekend .

Tell me about it,my brother's E46(pre facelift) left us stranded in Santa Fe Springs because it blew its radiator, we had to hitch a ride on a 2015 Civic SI to get back

Lol. To be fair the e46 is decades old (1999) with the coupes last production in 2006. You said your brother had a pre face lift, I would guess thatā€™s a early 2000ā€™s model, making it almost 2 decades old. Of course you are going to have issues. I had a 2005 M3 driven daily, had over 150k miles when sold, not one single issue except regular maintenance. Also had numerous e9X models and the same, no issues.

Maybe I am lucky lol. I am not saying that all are reliable but itā€™s been blown out of proportion with some people. I, however, agree as a whole Japanese cars are more reliable and cheaper to maintain overall.

Ok. Back on topic. Iā€™m hoping a V8 TT version in the mix. :)

If PerformanceSound is happy with the MKV, I would be ecstatic! Great news to wake up to after the weekend.

This all makes sense now finally, my only concern is the price being a serialized car. It will come down to how much more the LC-F will cost over this in-house engineered MKV.

I would assume the LCF would cost significantly more since the LC is around 100k already.

A serialized car with 500 hp, good weight to hp distribution would be a monster. (Coming from a 520 hp 3200 pounds GT3RS) wishful thinking of course, but fingers crossed.

With all of the hints Performance is throwing around, I think itā€™s safe to assume that a serialized car is what we may be getting from Toyota. Hopefully he can spill the beans after this weekend. Iā€™m down for something like this, as long as it stays under 90-100k

Most definitely. I would assume under 100k.
