I always say that if you're going to daily drive your car, there are some race car modifications you just should not make.
Keep in mind that most of us that do the stuff to our cars only do so because we don't have to daily them. That gives us a lot of freedom to mess with things That could cause some problems, otherwise.
But, if you have to then you have to no matter what. Engines are waterproof. They can get wet. ????
Well I know, more race car it is, less daily it is. I just dont know anything about hood vents so having big hole in the hood scares me with all the water i'm seeing going there in my head :D
Still, its supposed to help quite a bit with temperatures so I have my eyes on it, esp 777 GT4 style one:

And maybe some Spage/Sayber fender vents to top it off :)

if worried about a vent don’t do it. Not worth it if daily and only occasional track. You will have to drive through all kinds of weather and it will sit in your head.

You might do better with the front bumper vent if daily driven

Well, maybe Verus then? Its placed lower on the hood, if some water gets in it should drip in front of the engine, does some job too. Or place 777 lower, more in the place of Verus one since its supposed to have movable position, no?
Sayber/Spage fender louvers seem to be no-brainer I guess?

Well, it wont be in my head if I just know its safe.. Car gonna be track used ~2x/month, coz im going for more track oriented build this time, spanking Caymans GT4 is the goal :)
If I used it 3-4x a year on track I wouldnt bother... But additional airflow + df is a good thing as an addition to full verus aero.

I've seen cars drive around with no hoods. I'm sure they get wet.

First step is to figure what about it you think may be unsafe, then deal with that. Mods are cool but not worth stressing over, IMO.

Agree. And to go slow. I’ve been lucky in prior cars with a great race team buddy, John Dean, back in the day. He’d calm my arse down & take one thing at a time approach. I wanted to buy everything! ? Turned out he was right. I’ve seen too many peeps throw a lot of mods on their cars, only to sit on the sidelines trying to figure out what went wrong.

A buddy @1slow_mk5 still has the fastest BMW Sebring time in his mainly stock (sway bars & tires) 2020 Supra. I’m hoping to knock him off that spot next season. And it helps that he’s moved on to another platform ?

You’re way over thinking it. Engine is weather sealed on all modern cars. My car sat in the pouring rain on Saturday night at the hotel and then I tracked it all day Sunday.

My vent is positioned in the same place as the Supra GT4, it’s in between the engine and cooling stack. All the water will go down between that open space.

I miss having track day buddies. All my friends that used to do track days have either moved on or moved to other states lol I do look forward to seeing @Evolution at our events, though.
I still go and drive by myself the rest of the time, but it's definitely lacking....
As for buying stuff, it's so hard not to. I've gone a year without so much as buying an exhaust (I will be having one built next week, because it's really hard to hear the car with the helmet on).
I have also seen people that spend all of their time putting a car together but never actually running it. They always have to "get one more part and then it'll be ready". That kind of bums me out because they usually end up getting rid of the car before they ever even tried it out.

Well said! I’m an extrovert (if you couldn’t tell lol). It does make it more fun hanging & talking to other car lovers like us :)

And spot on with the “just one more part” and everything will run optimally ?

Those of you saavy in the ways of brake pads.

I do track a fair amount. (7+ days a yr). I've been on the stock Brembo pads since owning the car. I haven't experienced much issue with them...but now that I'm more familiar with the car, I am considering more aggressive pads.

C21/C11 is the obvious choice. But the price tag just isn't attractive for someone only doing HPDEs and doesn't need every foot of brake zone.

How do the Hawk DTC60/30 combo work scale 1-10? Had Hawk HP+ on my track BRZ (leftovers from autocross and touge) that was similar power of the supra (400+Whp). They got sketchy braking for turn 10 and 12 at Road Atlanta.

Note: I do receive Hawks at a generous discount through the groups I drive with...so that is what is drawing me to them.

Post Edit:
Yes, I am reading the Brake pad thread.

Yeah. It's a bummer. "I need race tires", "I need a harness", excuse after excuse. Such a bummer.

I did a track event the day after I bought my car, so was on new, OEM pads. They actually held up pretty well when paired with OEM tires and ABS. But... you are definitely ready to move up to something that works a bit better.
Rating pads is hard. I wouldn't know where to list my Hawks on a scale. I know that I like Raybestos better, but they don't make pads for us yet. My second choice is G-Loc, but I'm not sure they make any for us yet, either. I haven't looked since buying the Hawk. Carbotech is my third choice. They are the same as G-Loc but more expensive.
Hawk HP+ are trash. The only thing they make that is track worthy are the DTC pads. I have 60/60 now, as the 30s for rear weren't avail. The car works great.
The pad/fluid thread is a great source of info.

I'd suggest Project Mu Club Racers for the thousandth time but I've lost energy for it and... more pads for me to keep buying then. ;)
