Again, what a shame to the name. I really dug the Z for the price. This just feels like the clock is running out and throwing up an alley oop to beat the buzzer? ☄

Yes the effort here is lame. A good pure sportscar name and very little inspiration. Parts-Bin marketing and tech. Its not being sold here in the EU as well. No loss actually.

I’m a car freak dude. I’ve known I‘ve had a problem ever since I was little. Hot wheels, couldn’t get enough of them. Car magazines, same. Now that my kids are growing up, son in high school dreaming about cars, like I use to, damn Red… the Z brings back memories. That car was up there in my mind of one of the cars I’d buy someday if/when I had the money. Now that I can, I don’t want it ?

What changed? Not my love for cars but Nissan’s directive. I don’t hate it. But I don’t lust after it like I once did. I always wanted a car I could take on a track and drive the shit out of reliably. I don’t see that happening with this car. I think the Camaro, Challenger & Viper killed themselves off properly. They reached their pinnacle and called it quits. I think the Mustang is doing it right. They are pouring a ton of money into one last pony car. And I’ll be damned. It works. My wife wants to spend our hard earned money on the brand. Our daughter has a 2019 5 speed Ford Fiesta & dating a guy with a Mustang, lol. They love the lineup ?

Back to Nissan, I can’t think of a single one I’d want to spend my hard earned money on. Thus a complete failure with this Z, imo. I don’t think it’s a supply chain issue or that I’m alone. They needed a partner like Toyota did with BMW. Take an average Z4 and make it great! Or they needed to pour money into it like Ford is doing with their dying breed ?. The reason this thread is now 178 pages long? I think we all at one time considered this Z as a capable competitor for the Supra. Which it clearly (and sadly) is not.

For whatever reason the Nissan Z is a car show car and not a real track car. Still have not seen or even heard of one being tracked. I believe the c8 is a car show car too fwiw.

The reviews I care about are ones that actually track it and compare times with benchmark track cars in the same price range. Some journalists doing lead follow is lame. They will all be impressed because 90% don't track. The ones that track will protect the brand- and say things like "it is the best Nissan Z in 20 years." Because- yeah it is- but it is still old tech and slow. lol

I have yet to see one IRL, much less at the track.

I hate these video reviews. Seeing the bias more and more. It’s too bad because I like the one guy (driver at the end). But stop being so vague. It’s an old platform, they under delivered, it is what it is. It is a show car & probably fun to drive in town. Call it like it is! Then maybe I’ll subscribe….

When are you going to start your YouTube channel? I want to see that kind of honesty in a review ☝

I think these will be pretty rare at tracks with turns. Cooling has been a Z34 weak point when boosted or VR30 swapped. I can’t imagine what is essentially a factory VR30 swap into a 370z fares much better or else we would have heard about all the new cooling systems, etc.

If and when the price comes down on used Zs and the street scene can get their hands on them, you’ll see the 370 and Q50/60 gang upgrading and pushing the limits a bit more…but I don’t foresee this being on a circuit.

Could make for a fun weekend roll racer with an end of life plan as a drift missile. I would be just fine with that.
