...all I'm saying is get ready for MKV's to eventually walk over MKIV's.
From the info that is available thus far, I don't see it happening.. but we'll see what the aftermarket is able to do with this car and what influence it has on the tuner scene (as MKIV did in late 90's / early 00's).

I also think the GT-R analogy is misleading. The R35 is a complete different animal, but it didn't walk over the R34. First of all the R35 is not even available as a manual. And at least Nissan built the drivetrain themselves.

Its pretty sad for such a big corporation such as Toyota to use someone elses drivetrain in their flagship sportscar. We waited nearly 20 years for this marginally better (or in some cases worse) sportscar?
There.. I stirred the pot a bit more

...all I'm saying is get ready for MKV's to eventually walk over MKIV's. It will happen...I never thought so either, but it will happen. The 90's nostalgic appeal of the MKIV will always be there, just like the R34, S15, RX-7, 300ZX, etc... as what though?....garage queens?

The gear these new cars will be packing will be stout!....but, what do I know, I'm just a Nissan "fanboy" driving a Subaru .
Of course it's going to happen, it's inevitable.

Will it ever get to the situation when the GTR's started making big power and eclipsed Supras at TX2K, then the exotics? I'm going to say doubt it. The MKIV has already locked in her legendary status.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see many high HP B58's smoking other cars. IMO, there will be tuning options but it'll take a while before you see fully built bottom ends, big turbos, 1500+ hp MKV's. These cars will see more HPDE then drag strips.

If the V160 was able to handle 2000hp, I'd quote that number. We're talking the MKV being "better", right?

“Better,” is a subjective term though?

Like I previously stated, to me, better is in steering feel, chassis, balance, etc... not in making massive power, for my pick if I was going that route I’ll pick a r35 or a huracan, but that’s a completely different story lol.

To be fair, majority of B58s are still under lease/factory warranty and are in commuter sedans instead of full on sports cars. The current B58 community circles around bolt-ons than can be easily removed if the car needs to be taken to the dealership or traded in.

With all that being said, as soon as all the kinks are worked out on port injection kits, “high” hp builds will be more commonplace

What Will MKIV Owners Do?

Horribly, I think most MKIV owners will perform seppuku after receiving their first glance of the mighty A90. Much like how the roadside ditches in America were filled with lifeless corpses after Ford made the change from the Fox platform to the SN95. Don't even get me started on the LT-1 to LS1 transition. Pure carnage.
Can't forget about the 2010 screwjob Ford gave to the GT owners once the Coyote came out.

The moment they even spot a Supra, they'll get a CEL, have oil leaks and then go in limp mode from downshifting to catch up. :D

+1 Majority are bolt ons for that reason. The Z4 and MKV are going to go through that similar wave.

This also brings up the abundance of aftermarket support, hight quality/low cost Toyota OEM parts that helped the MKIV tremendously. I remember when you could buy a brand new 6 speed V160 transmission for under 5K, complete 2JZGTE heads and blocks, the complete auto-to-6 speed conversion kit from for about 2K and it was fully compatible except for the transmission tunnel.
