Not a Corvette.
there's absolutely nothing wrong with DI only setups pending you stay within the limits of the HPFP. depending on a persons power goal DI can suffice and be fine.

My recommendation is if you even think that at some point you may want more than 700-800whp just get PI. Port injection while it does add 6 more injectors, is the easiest way to not have to worry about cutting fuel to help the HPFP. While there are some hidden benefits of DI, when dealing with race fuel or Ethanol, those benefits are lessened.

Ether way, it takes fuel to make power. So as long as the DI or PI setup supports your goal, they are both fine.

I like PI because it can support whatever i want without cutting the fuel. And i find it to be even a little less expensive than the DI upgrades needed to support a fraction of the power that PI does. But again, not everyone wants all the power. and DI only can work for those owners.
Always appreciate your more level-headed approach to sharing information. BTW, we met for a split second once a couple years back when I had my Evo 10 on the dyno at Street Tuning Performance.

this may be a dumb question, but could you in theory upgrade the DI injectors and HPFP AND run a PI? Obviously expensive to setup, but would this in theory give you a lot more fueling capacity?

Ok So how much HP can the bone stock fuel system handle on 93 gas and an E Blend? What about just a hpfp upgrade and stock injectors? All this talk about splitting hairs. What about the guys ok with a 600 whp car. I know we are limited by the stock turbo but it seems that a turbo upgrade is the cheapest part of the hp upgrade
That being said I’m loving that the technology is changing and giving us options for power upgrades.
Sorry if I’m rambling. I just smoked with an old friend I havnt seen in years and it’s been a long time since I’ve smoked.

Just saw that spool performance has a newer hpfp too that just released in the last week. FX400X

I wonder how that’ll play out.

Figured it was relevant to this thread, Sameh from Sam Performance has a solution on BM3 to control PI via CanBus without the Rev2 board.

I know the owner personally, been at it for a while building the engine. The transmission is giving out can't add more boost as it is Stage 1 Pure trans. But he is definitely happy with the results. It has been long awaited.

Yes turbo upgrade will be the easiest thing to gain hp. Then comes the fueling problems. Trans etc etc. Gotta beef up the car after 650whp give or take.

When it comes to fuels there are two important things to note. OCTANE rating vs ETHANOL (alcohol) content. Generally speaking the Ethanol content is the main thing that affects flow capabilities of a fuel pump.

on normal 93oct (usually has 6-10% ethanol in it) power limits due to octane can be 450-600whp depending on the turbo with the stock TU HPFP. On a non ethanol race fuel, 625whp, maybe 640whp on the stock TU HPFP due to the octane increase supporting more timing.

This same HPFP will struggle to support 475whp on full E85. So when using ethanol, the stock TU HPFP can support 485-540ish whp depending on ethanol content. E40-E50 is about the sweet spot for power on stock turbo, e30 for larger turbo to get a bump in octane.

The stock LPFP will support 700-750whp on ethanol. and about 800-850whp on a race fuel with no ethanol (MS109, C16 and etc.) and using port injection.

Graphs dyno charts whp figures. Anything that will help the thread.
look above for some general info.

Perfect it will take a bit to update the thread as I'm getting ready for a flight packing and everything. But I will update the thread thank you for the info and I will quote you.
