Looks great! Why is the power dying off after 6k rpm? Did I miss something?
the turbine housing is probably choking the flow. You need massive flow through the hot side to support those huge torque numbers at high rpm, but doing this would also make the turbo spool slower and be less responsive.

I believe Alec is working on a new turbine housing to support more flow for the really high power guys.

The dyno shows itā€™s making almost 700ftlb at 6k rpm which is still absolutely nuts.

I wonder what life would be like with one of these turbos with a manual on regular pump fuel, whether it be fully stock fueling or adding port injection and staying pump 93.

For those of us who are older and just want a fast ass daily driver and no fussing about fuel, and arenā€™t trying to be Johnny with a situational 9000 horsepower depending on whatā€™s in the tank.

I mean in like how would it feel because Iā€™m already very much over how slow my car is stock turbo untuned. Maybe Iā€™m just from the old days where if you wanted to go fast you had to upgrade the blower or the turbo, and it seems like the stock one is solid and things might be fine. But I also remember how my M177 powered AMG only really felt fast on the freeway

like in my head I wonder if itā€™s worth it to go with a big turbo over stock if Iā€™m not interested in messing about with any gas I canā€™t just get anywhere. Maybe itā€™s just for the big boys and girls.
Downpipe and tune on a stock turbo already makes a very noticeable difference. I would go with that first and then you can always swap out the turbo later.

assuming you're speaking about solely running 93oct (pump gas) and not going on the Ethanol fuel wave. on 93oct, the stock turbo is good for about 460whp give or take before octane limits power. With an upgrade turbo such as this, that power level can be extended to 550-600whp. depending on the turbo.

so in other words, entirely worth it even if youā€™re not seeking 9000 horsepower

thank you for chiming in!

If youā€™re not looking to set records or be competitive. 550 - 600 whp is pretty fast in these carsā€¦

Iirc 550-580 whp is good for a 132-135 trap speed on a turbo that doesnā€™t die up top isnā€™t it?

At my advanced age, my Supra has been exclusively used for:

Mon-Fri mornings - Me going to the gym and then coming home
Fri Nights - Date night with my other half, where she drives and I vape and get stoned on the way.
Then general self maintainance like mani/pedi every few weeks or a trip to the dispensary.

Sounds like the end game plan will likely be this as a turbo upgrade over that new DAW that just drops in where the original one was. Both would be fine, but I like the idea of going big.

One thing I've learned in life is that if you're going to do anything, do it once, and do it right. Even if it's more expensive and maybe a bit more than you want/need, you'll get more out of that purchase and be able to not be pushing the limits of the turbo and have a more reliable setup.

For sure - Once I decide to move past my current downpipe/flex fuel setup it goes into big money for mods (comparatively) so I'd like to do it once and be set. One thing I didn't want to happen is buying a pure 800 or something similar, and later want more and have to spend more money/time on swapping to a better turbo.

I think one of the biggest reasons I didnā€™t go for a Pure is because once you get it, to maximize the turbo you need fueling and a trans work, then the turbo is the limiting factor and youā€™d always want more so then a turbo swap. I know so many that have gone pure and then swapped later for a top mount for more power. we seem to have a higher obtainable power level with the Remnant kit. I think itā€™ll meet my needs just fine.

Super interested in this turbo kit. My understanding (ran across info somewhere, maybe it was a video) is that at around the 550whp range or so is when the MT Supras need to upgrade from stock clutch. Can anyone confirm experiences?

I've been logging peoples experiences with the clutch for a while now and I wouldn't bank on the stock clutch holding 550whp and 600 wtq without slipping for very long.

Some slip at 450 and 500. I'm assuming a proper break in process is a major factor. Downside to skipping the break in process for a clutch is that it wont hold higher power very well if it's glazed.

Iā€™m at 565 whp and similar torque for the last 3 weeks and put about 200 miles on it and I havenā€™t experienced any issues with my clutch fyi.

Thatā€™s good to hear.

Did you break in the clutch on delivery of the car?

Do you launch or track the car?
