How many miles do you have on the car? I can't imagine this is the worst shifter unless you've experience only the best manual cars. I think you need at least 2000 miles to pass a final judgment. I'm also having some difficulties getting used to downshifting from 5th to 4th gear, but only have 400 miles. My BRZ, it took 2000 miles for it to smooth out / for me to get used to the shifter feel and now the only excuse for mis-shifts in the BRZ is my own user error. In my limited test drive of a 996 manual, I'd say this Supra shifter reminds me of that test drive. It's somewhat rubbery/vague, but it still has some positive feel. It's very much a mix of luxury and sport feel.
I found the shifter to be quite stiff and to bind easily at first when I drove the car. Although, after about 600miles I already find it a lot smoother. I think, like a lof of components, it needs a little of break in time for every parts to fall into place.

Yep and in this EV future, your Supra (AT or MT) will be slow as shit compared to an average commuter. As long as I'm having more fun
For real, a 14 year old GTR is faster lol… bragging about who’s car is faster is a child’s game (unless you are running 6s 1/4 miles at a World Cup finals drag race)

You'll never need to ask, because MT drivers will always let you know they drive a Manual.
They are the Vegans of the auto enthusiasts world
Had a guy follow me to the bathroom at a C&C event to let me know that he drove a Manual
???

Enjoy being slower than a 35k Model 3 performance lol
The depreciation is insane on these.

I haven't checked the market lately but m3p 2022-23 can be had for 35k-40k at best.

But tuned Supras (dp/tune) can wreck these fairly easily.

I plan to replace my daily with one when they hit 30 honestly lol... There is no better value at that price imo.

Yeah, had to do DP +JB4 to finally beat my friends M3P. ?

since we're talking about manual transmissions.... can someone tell me when i should be shifting out of first gear lol i feel like im always shifting at the wrong time and it gets weird with second gear, either the rpm is too high or too low. or maybe i just need to work on my technique

It doesn’t matter if you drive an auto or a manual, I’ve owned both for Supras. Just matters if you’re having fun and if you’re fast. The m3p is a great car for what it is, but Supras with light mods can drag it’s ass.

Go 1 -> 3 when driving around town. Or just start in second.

The 6-speed is (thankfully) geared for driving balls out, which means it's going to feel too short for driving around town.
