The sales guy wasn’t trying to upsell me on anything. I was telling him BSM was a deal breaker and he was looking up options for the dealer to do it. As I was bullshitting with the guy he was like “holy shit there is a sunroof option for $2k?” As he looked through the options
Oh I wasn’t talking about them trying to upsell. I was talking about them being so clueless to the point that he actually thought there was a sunroof option. If he didn’t immediately call bullshit on that himself walk out.

What is there to be weary of having the dealer add Blind Spot functionality? Think they would mess something up?

I will say it seems pretty weak (have to get pretty damn close to other cars) on my 2.0 so might not but worth the $800.
You can adjust the sensitivity of blind spot monitoring.

A dealership offered me an amazing trade-in on my 22' 2.0 with 11k miles that can get me into a brand new 24' 3.0 base with PPF included for the same monthly payment I am currently making ($710)
One of my friends use to buy cars based on monthly payments, you have to pay close attention to how long your loan is for. Don't get suckered into the "It's the same you're paying now, why not upgrade?" Each year added to your loan at $710/mo is $8500.

OP - If you want to go cheap I'd stick to your 2.0L... or consider a new GR86/BRZ. Cars like the Supra should be bought with all the bells and whistles loaded, unless it's a track car that do not need those things. I mean the premium is only like $60K.. BMW is not asking for much for such a capable sports car. Get the Premium especially if you're already paying $710 per month.. that's crazy man.. I would never pay that kind of money for a 2.0L Supra.

it's crazy seeing all this because in canada we only have the premium, you pick a colour and your done.

I bought a base Supra and have never been happier. Granted I did this because it was on the lot and I could get it that day. But I like the Alcantera seats. Don’t need car play. I hate any driving assistance. The lane assistance will try and kill you as it is in the base. Basic bmw leather isn’t all that great anyways so unless I’m getting M seat quality I don’t really care about leather seats.

one thing that was not mentioned are the rear brakes. The pads and calipers are smaller on the base. So if you get a base you need to be very careful when ordering rear pads because most places don’t distinguish between base and premium.

The Supra is a sports car. It’s not really a luxury car. There aren’t many bells and whistles so it really doesn’t matter. I’ve had true luxury performance cars. This is meant to be a driving car. If you’re worried about all the creature comforts and fancy seats, it’s not your car.

That is fair. I put $0 down on the 2.0 30 months ago and the trade in offer gave me $12k equity which I am using to get into a 3.0 which makes it worth it to me. $55k out the door price.

I wasn't really looking for financial advice and more looking at the differences between the base and premium. At the end of the day, after reviewing comments/feedback, the main differences are not a deal breaker for me.

Smaller brakes/red calipers: i'm not going to track the car so I am fine with the smaller breaks
CarPlay: I am fine paying $220 activating the licensed
Leather seats: I prefer the alcantra that I had in my 2.0 so all good here
BSM: while a nice feature not something that is a deal breaker for me anymore because i am very used to the blind spots already on the supra
No HUD: Similar to BSM nice to have but not a deal breaker and was fine without it on my 2.0
Wire phone charging: Not needed and don't want my phone to overheat
Speakers: my 2.0 had the tech package which had the JBL which were already bad (better after doing the port mod) but ultimately I can put a better speaker/base setup in the 3.0

All of that said paying $4-5k more for the premium is not worth it in my case.

Just as a heads up on the non-JBL audio, the base audio uses anaolg signal from headunit to the ASD and amplifier. The premium JBL carries that signal through MOST optical. Just some info in the future when you decide to upgrade audio components.

No sales tax in Oregon, right? So $55K is basically the sale price? I just paid $56K + $500 dealer doc fee + sales tax for a 24 3.0 premium auto with driver assist package. $55K for a 3.0 base sounds like a lot.

Yeah, but you're happy you did. Don't half-arse yourself again, you'll regret it later is what I'm saying. GL with your purchase if you can find a Premium you like.

I actually really like the HUD, especially when with navigation. Just sucks you can only use it with Toyota's maps and it's not integrated with Carplay.

Blind Spot mirroring is nice too. I don't feel like the car has as bad of visibility as so many others have claimed, but I like having that additional feeling of confidence that I can change lanes without too much concern.

ACC - adaptive cruise control not wanted? I thought this would be desirable for all automatic drivers unless it's only for track use.

The non-premiums were around 58-59k with the addons every dealer seems to put on them, while the premiums were only 60-61k and didn't have addons. I liked the wheels on the premium as well so for an extra grand or two I went for the premium.

It’s literally impossible to see out of this car. I am entirely reliant on blind spot monitoring to see anything on my sides…like at all.

how do you guys drive without it? Hope?
