I hope to God this is true!
Quick update since someone posted in here again. I have never experienced the throttle issue again since the update so I'm going to say something that got updated to do the recall fixed this issue which is great!
I understand throttle hesitation but on my 2020, when I hit the throttle, there is no hesitation. My wife can attest to this as she is thrown back in her seat and starts drooling. She doesn't like the Supra, I do. lol
The throttle hesitation had nothing to do with already driving down the road. Some people were intermittently experiencing an issue when attempting to take off from a stop or trying to accelerate at very low speeds where the car essentially wouldn't pick up any throttle input unless you possibly put it on the floor or in some cases would actually stall out when taking off from a stop which I did experience once.
ever since the dcm update, i get the tires not recognized warning on start up. :dunno:
I did experience this I think when I was leaving the dealer after the update but after I did a relearn never had the issue again personally:dunno:

Thanks. Yes, referring to the stopped and accelerating, that is what I am referring to. No lag or turbo lag as I experienced with some cars years ago. It just goes.

Same here. This is the first turbo car I've owned that has the feeling of zero turbo lag.

I wonder if the lag has to do with the change they did to the engine?

You mean between the 2-port and 6-port? Possibly.

I remember reading (or was it watching?) a comparison when the '21 came out from one of the journalist drivers (Matt Farah or Chris Harris?) stating the the 2-port "felt punchier" :dunno:

2-Ports always had a meatier low to mid-range torque curve, and it came on pretty sudden. Every 2 vs 6-Port dyno graph will show this.

2port has higher compression than 6port so that helps. Also, the DME strategy, espically in sport mode, is to always have some turbo pressure behind the throttle plate so when you go WOT, it feels more responsive.

I knew I could count on you for a solid explanation.

Just had mine done on my 2021 with 16.8k miles, along with oil change. Was on S18T-07-519, ended up with S18T-23-07-505. That sounds kinda old right? Does anyone know what the minimum version is that includes the DCM patch?
Also, when service writer rung me up, he said oil change is cheaper today, I asked why, and he said that there is a shortage of the GR 0w20 oem oil, so they used the Toyota oem 0w20 synthetic instead. And that tech said it should be fine as it is also 0w20…

Bring your own LL-01 oil next time.

Last post sums it up. But lots of good engine oil choices for us.

If you're going to continue taking a BMW to a Toyota service center you better get used to coming away unhappy.

The TGMO 0W-20 is fine to use in the short-term. It's Toyota's tweaked recipe of EP Mobil 1. The only standout thing special about the GR oil is that it meets the Euro ACEA C5 standard, which is specially designed to minimize long-term catalyst degradation as it consumes small amounts over the life of the engine. Nothing to worry about for us.

True lol I had been going past 2 times for toyota care services but now that those are up, might just take it to BMW. Is that what everyone else have primarily been doing? (other than those who do it themselves).

Makes sense, that's reassuring. Thanks!
