Tire Recommendation

Hi,

Thinking about purchasing 1 of the 3 tires listed below and wanted to get some feedback on the owners that have ran them for Track and Autocross and my car is also my daily.

I usually hit up a Track once a year and Autocross every other month.

1. Yokohama Advan A052
2. Nankang Sportnex CR-S
3. Continental Extreme Contact Force

I believe these came out in 2023 and not sure what came out in 2024 that would be better at this time.

How many miles a day? If mainly a daily, I would lean towards the Conti Forces. if you want to be the fastest on track, A052/RE71RS/CRS are all within tenths of each other but wear out fast.

agreed, depending on if you street drive the car a lot. the ECF's are a terrible competition tire, but if its a daily then it wont matter

Thank you! I will just have to switch out rims and tires before heading out. Looks like Bridgestone cost the most so probably will go with the A052 since the CRS take a bit to warm up according to a friend.

Kumho V730 would be a good inbetween the Forces and the A052/CRS/RE71RS and they are a bargain.

The challenge for the OP is with 95% street duty he will just be wearing down expensive tires daily without any benefits. The super 200 tires are crap when cold and in rain compared to Pilots or OEM tires.

I would recommend the Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02, which isn't on your list. It's a 340 TW tire, and I've had no issues with it both on the track and on the street. I also daily drive my Supra with them.

It's ALL about expectations. I've tracked the car on Conti ECS02 and Bridgestone RE71RS, putting notable street miles on each tire.

The Stones are pretty rough on the street, and will burn to the ground QUICKLY. They are OK full tread in the rain, but treacherous when worn. They're loud and you feel impacts...all of them. They just friggin' work on track, though.

The ECS02 is a great street tire with very good manners on the street, but a compromise on track. It simply does not have the mechanical grip or responsiveness of a 200TW tire. It is an excellent option as a rain tire and seems long lasting as well. I had a set in '23-'24 with a couple of track weekends, a bunch of time trial sessions, and 6K+ miles of street driving. They still had PLENTY of life left when I replaced them with new Stones.

If you don't come in with expectations of RE71RS (or CRS, AO52) levels of grip on track, you'll like the ECS02.

that's well said. Depends if you are going to the track to have fun with no pressure or if you are coming to be as fast as possible.

I think the Forces will be much better dual duty in California than the ECS02. They are good in the rain (which it rarely does in California), wear like iron for it's capability, and not CRAZY off pace of the super200's.

I'm assuming the OP is in Southern California based on his avatar photo. It never gets east coast cold there if you live in the lowlands.

I havn't seen the Yohoma AD09 on the list, but that might be a good option as well. They are available in a lot of sizes and priced pretty well.

That's what I chose for next summer actually.

I was going to recommend the AD09 as well, but the last time I checked they're really expensive for a "not 200tw" tire. I know some are running them in LeMons, and also in OneLap with success, but the price is hard to swallow.

I'd have switched over the Conti ECF for my LeMons car last year, as I've seen some folks have success with them, but the price difference over the tried-and-true 'kook RS4 was too much to take the risk.

Honestly I have not tried them yet, but I was under the impression they were similar in pace and durability to the Continental Extremecontact Force

Not surprising. The RS4 is SOOOOOO old, and the available sizes reflect it. I run a 245/40/17 or a 255/40/17 on my old Mustang, so it's a good choice there. I also ran it on a previous team with a DA Integra, running 15"s.

It sounds more like you need street tires. Go with pilot 4s.

If you find yourself wanting to be competitive in Autox, then dedicated RE71RS tires. There’s a reason why pretty much everyone uses that tire.
