unlock (femto) and backend flash appears to be just as most custom tunes in my experience. I do agree jb4 locked cars and upgraded turbo's is a terrible route to good reliable power.Personally I wouldn't run JB4 at all with a non-stock turbo. If you can't afford to get an unlock and proper MHD/BM3 tune to go with your turbo upgrade, you shouldn't be buying the turbo upgrade in the first place. All JB4 does is control boost and wastegate parameters by fooling the ECU, so I would not trust it with a turbo upgrade / high boost.
I know it's a pain to have to ship the ECU overseas, but if you follow the instructions FEMTO provides it's safe and just means your car is going to be out of commission for a week or so.
That being said, people have ran JB4 with Pure turbos without too much trouble in the past. You just won't get anywhere close to the most out of the turbo, and will end up with a not so smooth powerband (and a lot of added risk)
