Like others, I've told myself not to modify too much and haven't always kept that promiseWell, after doing my track day a Barber, I've decided I want to do a bit more. I've races wheel to wheel for 20+ years on a lot of tracks in the Midwest, but now I want to hit a few down south that have been kind of a Bucket List thing for me. I'm not looking to modify my car much, if at all. I just enjoy learning a new track and going fast enough to get some adrenaline flowing!
First up is Daytona in September. I've been there many times as a spectator and once as a photographer. Now I want to try out the high banks for myself.
Then I'm going to Sebring. I've run there twice in a 2008 NC Miata. But this time I'm hoping to twist another Supra forum member's arm to come along. But I'm driving a bone stock car and his is pretty much a serious track day car.
Down the road, like next Spring, I'd like to get to Road Atlanta and VIR. I've been a photographer at both, but never got the opportunity to run either.
I'm prepping mine for S2 in SCCA TT which is basically camber, wheels/tires, drop springs, oil cooler, and maybe an exhaust down the road. Picking that class means I get good bang for the buck in mods, and the car stays pretty stock. I get a car that doesn't eat tires, can track relatively effortlessly, and is stock enough to DD without worry.
Living in the SE I somehow still haven't gotten down to Daytona and Sebring. I'm closer to VIR/RA/CMP with CMP being my home track. All of those are quite fun, and I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Barber, CMS, NCCAR, Roebling, and the FIRM are other ones, but Roebling and the FIRM are kind of a one and done IMO. CMS is more fun now that they added the chicanes, but is almost as hard on brakes now as CMP.
