Well, after doing my track day a Barber, I've decided I want to do a bit more. I've races wheel to wheel for 20+ years on a lot of tracks in the Midwest, but now I want to hit a few down south that have been kind of a Bucket List thing for me. I'm not looking to modify my car much, if at all. I just enjoy learning a new track and going fast enough to get some adrenaline flowing!

First up is Daytona in September. I've been there many times as a spectator and once as a photographer. Now I want to try out the high banks for myself.

Then I'm going to Sebring. I've run there twice in a 2008 NC Miata. But this time I'm hoping to twist another Supra forum member's arm to come along. But I'm driving a bone stock car and his is pretty much a serious track day car.

Down the road, like next Spring, I'd like to get to Road Atlanta and VIR. I've been a photographer at both, but never got the opportunity to run either.
Like others, I've told myself not to modify too much and haven't always kept that promise 😅

I'm prepping mine for S2 in SCCA TT which is basically camber, wheels/tires, drop springs, oil cooler, and maybe an exhaust down the road. Picking that class means I get good bang for the buck in mods, and the car stays pretty stock. I get a car that doesn't eat tires, can track relatively effortlessly, and is stock enough to DD without worry.

Living in the SE I somehow still haven't gotten down to Daytona and Sebring. I'm closer to VIR/RA/CMP with CMP being my home track. All of those are quite fun, and I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Barber, CMS, NCCAR, Roebling, and the FIRM are other ones, but Roebling and the FIRM are kind of a one and done IMO. CMS is more fun now that they added the chicanes, but is almost as hard on brakes now as CMP.

All great choices for tracks. I've driven all multiple times in numerous cars. Happy to pass some knowledge along if you want. I'll be at Sebring in October with NASA for the big combined event. Maybe I'll see you out there!

Side note, I recommend Roebling if you haven't been. Looks boring on paper but its anything but. I highly urge everyone to drive that track.

I think you would like Roebling more in a different car. A C8Z on OEM tires is not the ideal Roebling car. I haven't driven it in my Supra yet, but in the EG hatch on 200tw it was a blast.

I love Roebling. Its not as "dangerous" as a car eating track like Road Atlanta or Sebring. But I use Roebling lap times to separate the talkers from the drivers. Such a fast track

I have to imagine in either the Supra or C5 it'd be more fun. Probably more so in something like an EG. Any car you're doing something in the turn would be more fun than the C8Z given it was more of a blast down the straight(s) and then just kind of pedal it through the never ending corners.

I'd rather go to CMP given it's proximity. That said, I agree that trying RRR in another car isn't a bad idea. Especially since it's only 2.5 hours away from me.

290F is "fine" in the sense that the oil will do it, but I agree that it's a good idea to fix now before there's an issue down the road. This car does put some heat into the oil (makes me think of the C5 Vettes) and the one kit on the market is sized for the average track day enthusiast vs someone doing more hard core stuff. It sounds like you've got some great plans though and I bet they'll work well for your goals!
Well i change oil after 2days like that imediately just in case but still i'd rather it not go so high. Im in EU so doing the 1000w fan need some custom work, its not p&p due to different connectors.

I wana build aero frankenstein monster for the next season, some Verus, Spage, Racebred, AJ Hartman, Zebulon stuff on 1 car... :flame: No other way to chase GT Porsches on CUP2R/Trofeo RS since i wont upgrae power over 450whp i have now.

Zebulon is one of the gold standards (to me). I've looked at AJ Hartman, Ciro, Zebulon, Verus, and others. Consistently the cars with Zebulon aero seem faster. Anecdotal, but if I was building a TA car I'd be calling them for a splitter/wing/side strakes.

Well ye but AJ splitter is easily adjustable for road driving. I hang it 2.5" for track than lift to 3.5 for road since i dont tow the car. But Zebulon splitter is still the consideration.
V1X seems still like one of the best wings for the platform atm + i already have UCW so i got trunk drilled, v1x will be p&p which is big cost saving instead repairing the trunk. And Spage endplates coz they look cool and have some benefit (small but still).

Give Zebulon a call about their various endplate options. They have some fun stuff that works well. The splitter comments are true that a fixed splitter would cause more concern during transit to/from the track.

This is perhaps a stupid question but I need to pull my calipers off to rebuild them and I don't want get air into the brake system and have to deal with triggering the ABS pump. What's the best way of preventing this assuming the calipers may be off the car for a period of a few days? Can I just screw a bolt into the brake line to seal it, and if so does anyone know the size?

You can wedge something to hold the brake pedal against the seat. Take out the fuse for the tail lights so you don't drain the battery.

Ye, i prob would leave some performance on the table with AJH thats why i still ponder Zebulon. I just dont wana destroy it on the road hanging at 6cm..
V1x has very good Cl and has less drag than Spage SP012, i doubt Zeb wing would be that much better for the additional trunk-mounting problems. Also front aero grip is more problematic than gaining rear df. I got Spage endplates ordered for some time now so that is done 😅
I will prob do Zebulon sides, I'd do a diffuser too but it would need exhaust re-route and I wanna keep stock muffler for track sound limitations so maybe Verus ots one and done.
And on the side maybe different, more open fender + an additional cut like this from Evan, also helpful with splitter tunnels.

Let me know your timeline on this. I can set you up with both tracks. How about ViR in November this year ;)
Thanks for the offer, and I'll keep you advised, but its too soon. I've been a pro photographer at VIR. I'm looking to go in the spring. This November is Sebring... hopefully with a friend.

What is it about Roebling Road that has you so high on it? Personally, I love elevation change in a race track. That's why I like Barber.

It’s the fastest track in the southeast US in terms of average MPH iirc. It’s all sweepers except one straight so it’s more of a drivers track.
