If timing is horrible on map 1, what can I do to improve that? Fuel is 91 and I added VP octanium booster to 93ish, but even if the booster doesn’t do much you would think I get a real 91 at least 😂

Lowering boost on Map 1 —> Map zero 🤦‍♂️

MK5's especially on JB4 respond rather poorly to 91 and octane boosters don't seem to help much.

Burger likes to over-promise a lot given they advertise map 1 as being practically made for 91 (such as suggesting a easy 100 HP gain even though to actually get that much over stock dyno numbers you'd need to run downpipe + E50)

There’s 94 octane pump gas 70 miles from me, will try to get some this weekend and do more logs then. No corn at all where I live 😭

As I stated, either lower boost or raise octane.

JB4 is basically just a boost controller. There is no direct control over timing or fuel. So you have to work within those bounds.

91 will always suck with a JB4 because of this reason. Trying to run more boost with high timing target and almost stoich AFR is just insanity.

Thanks for the reply, will fill with pump 94 octane in the weekend before using the JB4 again.

Driving 70 miles to fill up doesn't really sound sustainable in the long term. You may need to just build a map 6 that targets +2 psi. Your log has map 1's target vs rpm. Just scale it down.

Won’t do this every week ! Just to check if timing will be better with supposedly better fuel. For science! 🤣

But yeah map 6 with + 2 psi could do it for now

I mean if you're really curious you can just get a gallon of Everclear and pour it in. Everclear is 95% alcohol, 5% water. The engine should be fine with it considering people inject 50/50 methanol-water mixtures for cooling.

I just found a shop that can get me 5 gallons of Sunoco E85-R, will use this next year to make E25-30 blends to use for logging map 2 before my occasional trips to the drag strip.

Car is about to get stored for the winter, I don’t want any water in the tank. It’s already freezing in the middle of the night.

I just found a shop that can get me 5 gallons of Sunoco E85-R, will use this next year to make E25-30 blends to use for logging map 2 before my occasional trips to the drag strip.

Car is about to get stored for the winter, I don’t want any water in the tank. It’s already freezing in the middle of the night.
Map 1 is fine to use, corrections are pretty minor. I'd just drop Duty 2500 and Duty 3500 by 5 for those big throttle closures.

Truth, especially on 91 ACN. Targeting lambda 1 with 10+ degrees advance is asking a lot even at stock boost levels. I don't even recommend JB4 if that's all you have. 91 non-ACN is marginal on Map 1 as you've seen.

of course there is the option to IAT spoof at 130-140 which will lower base timing, run slightly richer lambda, but I know how you feel about that ;)

Stick to 2-2.5 gallons per tank. E20-E25
