Lol. It's actually true. Most gas stations charge for it. However, some will offer it free, if you go in and ask. Lived in California for over 20 yrs, can confirm. Live in Texas now, and most stations are actually free out here. So, it does vary, as well.
I lived in the UK and I had to pay for air at a service station, not sure I understand why this is considered only a U.S. thing.

Also much worse things going on currently than gas stations when it comes to the United States. Weird flex.

No they don’t. Making crap up lol.
Some places do. You either have to swipe a credit card or insert quarters to get the air pump to work. Whenever I find a gas station with one of these pay to put air in your tires pieces of shit I just roll right out of the parking lot and onto the next station. Fuck them. They will not get one penny of business from me.

Gas station pumps either don't work, cost money or have a ton of condensation buildup.

Most of them are only coin operated. I haven't carried coins with me in 20 years.

It's always a good idea to get it started, once you do, push the middle valve without attaching it to the car to release most of the built up moisture.

I just carry a portable unit that's about the size of an energy drink can and is powered by the 12v outlet on the dash. It's slower, but at least the air is free, readily available and without any moisture buildup.

You can grab one on Amazon for less than $60.

In Australia, there is no such thing as paying for air and water. Ever. Also, we pay for petrol AFTER we have filled up, although more recently some servos do make you pre-pay after 9pm.

Oh yea? Well, on the precipice of tomorrow’s historical relevance here in the states, we have more in common than you might think. You know… the whole genocide by white British colonization.

Hahah. True. Society is crumbling around us. Australia is just a few years behind, don't worry.

Seeing how crooked I can get these things before I drill more holes in the car.

Just shut your good eye and put a little Vasoline over the other. Whatever you end up with will be perfect!
