Why on earth would you spend the money to unlock with FEMTO and then just use it as a BEF for JB4?

It makes no logical sense to me.

From what I understand, people like how quick and easy it is to edit your boost curve/map through JB4.

Still doesn't really make sense for me, though, since MHD/BM3 both have multi-map.

Going set and forget on an MHD OTS is not my plan (though I'll give it a try). I'll be working with the BEF until I can better learn the boost control stuff of MHD and then I'll just do my own flash entirely with no JB4.

I thought you said you are staying on JB4 only a while ago? What made you change your mind to FEMTO now?

gave into the darkside
Literally just impulsively ordered it because I wasn't happy with the JB4 performance one morning. 😆

genuinely my time spent learning car tune stuff is better spent learning how to do MHD than it is to fool around on JB4 anymore. I think I did the most I could for the MT cars at this point.

I think you will get it very fast. MHD+ with the boost target tuning greatly simplifies tuning these cars as you basically do not have to figure out the whole OEM airflow strategy.

In the simplest of terms, you set a boost target, you make sure the WGDC base table, which is also re-engineered for MHD+, is setup correctly, then fine tune the PID tables. Done with that part.

You were not happy about the driveability or simply want more power or adjustability?

Drivability was a bit inconsistent with season changes, and I want more upgrade headroom. Probably do a pure 600 or similar down the line.

I didnt realize it was as easy as setting boost targets, then messing with wgdc and pid. That's the same strategy as jb4 anyway. I knew about the pedal to torque, torque to load. Load to cylinder fill, etc. Maybe im getting it wrong but it seemed like a lot to potentially screw up.

One concern i have from tuning from my stock bin is that MHD+ might not have all the tables that include some of the weird MT limiters. I know you checked, saw none, im pretty sure its because the tables arent defined.

So I wonder if im better off starting with a more generic bin like the BEF. Idk. Or an AT car stock bin if someone sends it to me (if thats even compatible)

I went through that pain already, happy to share and/or find the tables for your BIN. Just give me your BIN ID when you have it.

There are specific clutch slippage / checks on the MT.

That would be great, appreciate it.

What would be some good resources to learn about this stuff? I may go this route in the future and would like to learn as much as possible.

I see. You are the biggest JB4 proponent here so I was kind of surprised why you would move to flash tune but given you have some hardware upgrades in mind, this makes sense.

You still going to update us with news on the latest JB4 firmware or new tuning tricks for the MT crowd, right?
