Can anyone else who got PPF using Xpel please take a look at your car. I'm seeing a TON of seams, is this because they used the pre-cut kit? I'm in the process of getting a complete wrap done, but I don't know how to proceed now.

This may get by on a back car, but on a white car this looks horrible IMHO. I need to take a better pic of the mirror cap, but ther'es actually something UNDER the film now on the edge after a few hundred miles of driving. I can easily see all the other edges getting dirty as well in a short period of time.

The pic of the roof, I think only that small strip on the roof has been done yet. I picked up the car early as the shop was going to Kentucky to get C8 training. This is not how I envisioned spending $4500 to make my car look like shit.

@XPEL Any thoughts on this?

1st pic - mirror
2nd pic - front quarter panel and hood area (hood was done in Suntek due to the Xpel length issue)
3rd pic - roof facing front of car

This is completely dependent on the installer and if theyā€™re going to wrap all edges. You need to ask your installer about this and go to someone else if youā€™re not satisfied. $4500 is pretty low for a whole car and Iā€™m guessing heā€™s using a precut kit and wonā€™t be wrapping edges.

I didnā€™t think they generally wrapped edges anyway unless you specifically asked because it makes it more likely to peel (since PPF is thicker than vinyl wrap), and having them wrap edges would invalidate the warranty.

I agree that $4,500 for the whole car sounds a bit on the lower side. I was quoted $5,500 after a hefty discount for clear Xpel PPF on the entire car (but ultimately opted for Stealth).

Warranty is void if edges are wrapped?? I guess I donā€™t have a warranty.

I donā€™t have the lines like the OP does. My installer said they wrapped some edges, depending on the setup of the car....

Warranty void?? From who, the dealer who couldn't do a good job???
I was quoted similar numbers from few dealers. They all looked at the website and summed it up... with the exception of the hood since they don't have a full pre-cut...

I'd like to hear from @XPEL if some / most of their "pre-cut" pieces are just not long enough to wrap?

Precut pieces can absolutely be wrapped, they just plan it into the template. Normally when I order precut kits, I have the option to include wrapped edges. There isnā€™t usually a cost difference (material only, obviously labor goes up when wrapping edges).

1st pic isn't clear for me, but 2nd pic is obvious and a lousy job! 3rd one I could forgive, but still for a $5K job, I'd be furious!
I hope they take care of you Ryan!

slightly off topic:
One thing I admire about Suntek is the fact that they laid out wrapped and not-wrapped options in their website as well as total sqft and they do have a whole hood coverage....when I saw that, my questions of edge-wrap were immediately answered Xpel!
I wish Xpel spent some time in their website as well as their marketing... Perhaps they want dealers and not individuals to install, but still a good website with sufficient information portrays a more dependable, reputable image, especially for first timers... And the fact that dealers also look at the same website doesn't help their cause...
I purchased an Xpel pre-cut front bumper 2 days ago and I cannot look up my order, it gives an error. Another thing they need to fix.

I donā€™t see abnormal raw film edges in pictures 2 and 3. Canā€™t see anything in picture 1.

Picture 2 shows a wrapped edge except for the very point. That cannot be wrapped, at least not reliably, so the film is normally truncated right at that point.

I donā€™t see a raw edge in picture 3, I see the seam from the factory ā€œcapā€ on the gutter cover.

Starting to think the car was wrapped unless you have pictures of film edges showing in obvious places.

Wait, so in pic 3 - everyone's car looks like that? They may not have wrapped that, I haven't went back to have the rest of the car wrapped yet, I just assumed they had done that since I didn't know why else it would look like that?

Yes. Hereā€™s a pic of the gutter cover on my M2 Comp, with no PPF installed. Supra is the same style part.

Here's another angle for pic 1.

69522732_2425220291090126_7153376496592093184_n.jpg
holy crap. does the film end there??? that's quite unacceptable

pic 2, it can be wrapped. They stretch it and meet them in the end. if not they can make a small cut to relieve the edge. I think they cut it too far or after the application it moved.

pic 3. no wrap on my car yet see pictures
