Oil Pump Curiosity

2020 here…… My oil pump took a crap a few months ago. I’m out of the 5 year warranty. Dealer wanted $5500 to replace and alignment .
I asked 3 dealers for a goodwill repair since the car has 20k miles. No luck.
If you’re still under the 5 year, get it replaced under warranty.
Going the independent shop way for repair…

5500 is definitely highway robbery. Most users like myself that went independent paid between 2K and 3K at worst. Find a good BMW / "European Car" repair shop, most of them know the Supra is basically a Z4 and will work on them.

Mine ran about $2200 total including diagnostics/parts/labor. Fantastic shop that knows their stuff.

@Speed Logic in OC did mine for $1,600. They can get it done in a business day. Replaced mine for peace of mind and issues with maintaining oil pressure on track.

Thanks for this. I just got the dreaded high oil pressure code. Will do some testing to confirm but looks like I'll be reaching out to @Speed Logic for help!

Do you have the ZTK package with the larger front brakes and oil cooler? If so, you have the metal oil pump.

Non ZTK Unfortunately ZTK cars just aren't common in Canada

Not many BMWs owners opt for this package in general unfortunately (unless it’s a ///M car). Wish the Supras had a “ZTK” option.

Yea, I found more do that with the M240i, although that is also rare. M240i also adds fender "flares" as well with the package:
