Hi Guys,

When I disconnect the negative terminal on the Battery, the alarm sounds for 30seconds then stops for 5 seconds before sounding again. This carries on .No way of stopping it and drives you crackers then after 6 minutes the alarm goes quiet and stays that way.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

The car is still able to make a ground and complete an electrical circuit for the alarm when there's no ground connected to the battery?

I’m guessing it is a four-cylinder with the auxiliary battery in the engine department.

edit: just realized op is in the UK. Still the same guess (possibly) minus the four-cylinder. That or an aftermarket system in which case good luck.

Was the car locked when you disconnected the ground cable?

Mine did that too when i was putting it away for winter.
Car was locked, unlocked the trunk, disconnect ground, alarm went off after a couple of seconds.
Put ground cable back on, stopped the alarm via unlocking the car.
Disconnected the ground again... car stayed quiet.
Disconnected the positive cable, car still stays quiet.
Removed the battery and just left it like that 😅

Show us the battery with the ground disconnected.

i think the alarm has a internal battery of its own that recharges. just disarm alarm with remote before disconnecting battery shouldnt go off after that

Not a Corvette.
At least some 2.0s do; may vary by market. Not sure if any 3.0 do, hence asking Op to confirm.
Supras? Are you talking about the mild-hybrid motorcycle size battery that goes into the right side engine cubby? If so, that is very different than the alarm battery that we all have.

Yep, except “dual storage“ 12V rather than 48V. Common (but not ubiquitous) on non-mild hybrid, G-series cars depending on how they’re configured.

With that said, I did some googling and had no idea the alarm has a dedicated battery! The information I found mentions a 10 year lifespan, but I don’t know if that’s accurate.

OK, so the answer should be… disarm the alarm before disconnecting the 12V battery. That did not seem to work for Op though.
