But it was sold here.. I didn't think a trim was enough to get it through unless it was over 25 years old. The one on Car Sales says it was imported by Toyota.. if that's accurate, maybe as a trial?

Anyway, weird. 🤷‍♂️
Was it sold here? I thought we were one of the few markets not to get it.

No, I mean the Supra in general was sold here. It's like the NSX was sold here but not the NSX-R. When I looked into it back in the day, there was no way to import it because the base NSX was close enough to stop imports of variants. Maybe the law has changed or as is often the case, I could just be wrong, lol.

It's not too difficult to import a Japanese car that was never sold here. But the question is why?
To bring in a "grey import" you need a licence and do the conversion of seat belts headlights and other stuff. I worked with a guy that used to do it as a business on the side with his brother. Flew to the Japanese auctions every 2 or 3 months then shipped them home and converted them. They liked buying the cosmetically modified ones the most and then putting them back to stock and selling the aftermarket bits for a good profit.

Would love to chat to anyone who has used that Aus version P1engineering. It's only new and a .io website which makes me nervous.
I would pay more money to have things happen quickly, with express post it's possible to look at a 3-4 day turn around time. Less time off the road is important. Interesting that they don't offer ECUTEK although I'm not sure that it's that important since a flex fuel tune is all i'm interested in. I have my other supra for more power

Saw our Final.. err, "Track Edition" in the flesh today and I was pretty unimpressed. The matt black was nice enough, but I really didn't care for the new wheel arch additions. Also, it appears no mirror wind buffeting jiggers were installed from factory, for those curious about such things.

If you are in here and just dropped your car off at a detailer in North East Melbourne, hello and commiserations about that front number plate mount. 🥲

And holy fuck.. I'd forgotten how lame these cars sound without an after market exhaust!

I saw one in the dealership at Essendon Fields back in January and took a photo of it. Satin black, looked shite. Part of colour design is If you want to minimise anything with a form esp a car with nice curves, then paint it satin/matt black.
So you take a beautiful curvy design then paint it a colour and finish to minimise the biggest design feature of the car. Sometimes the desire to be "different" overrides logic.

I honestly didn't mind the matt colour, although I'm sure it would be an absolute nightmare to take care of. While I wouldn't trade any colour for my yellow, I did consider the matt grey for a while as I thought it looked pretty sophisticated.

I've owned a road bike in that satin black and the way you maintain the finish is with a wipe over with automotive wax and grease remover. It shows up every fingerprint and every insect hit becomes a shiny blotch. A road bike was bad enough I can't imagine what a car would be like.

General Market Conclusion

The Australian MkV Supra market has effectively split into two tiers:

1. Autos = still expensive, but usable performance bargains relative to Porsche/C8 pricing.
2. Manuals = increasingly treated as low-volume enthusiast collectibles.

The surprising part is how little depreciation there has been overall. Even 2019 cars are still frequently near $90k asking prices nationally. That is unusually strong retention for a modern Toyota sports coupe.

I'm so glad I bought a Toyota.

I called to book my “capped price logbook service” today and after coming to terms with the new no free loan cars policy at pretty much every dealer, I have discovered a bigger problem. Toyota has “revised” our servicing schedule to further rip us off.

Honestly, the single worst thing about this car is literally EVERYTHING TOYOTA. All the can’t wait for a real Toyota only Supra morons have no idea what they are actually asking for. If you remove all the BMW elements of the Supra, you’re literally left with a steaming pile of Toyota shit.

Anyway, according to my logbook, my spark plugs should’ve been replaced at 24 months. Of course, when I took my car in for the 24 month service, the dealer told me my spark plugs were now to be replaced at 36 months - and not the 24 months listed in my log book. I wasn’t happy but they quoted me something like $600 extra to have this done so I figured I’d just wait till the next service since it's all included in the cap, right?

So, fast forward 12 months and guess what the dealer told me today when I booked the 36 month service?

“Spark plugs are not replaced until 48 months.”

Now I’m not clairvoyant but I’ve got a fairly good idea what these clowns are going to say at 48 months.

The dealer went on to tell me that Toyota Australia were the ones that “revised” what each service should contain, so now as part of the five capped price services, the spark plugs will only be replaced once.. maybe.

Toyota is such a shit company. Nothing this stupid ever happens when we take our M2 in to get serviced. Mini Cooper S loan car: free of charge; BMW parts without the Toyota markup (yes they are cheaper from BMW) and even real coffee served by a barista.

I still don’t get how anyone thinks Toyota is a good company, let alone better than BMW.

Go elsewhere to service then, drama queen…why would you go back with your flashed dme anyway? You have no more powertrain warranty. The service advisor would have told you what was included and if you don’t like it, you should just stick your middle finger up and fuck off

OK mate. 🙄

I'm just letting folks know that the service schedule found in their manual, is no longer being followed by Toyota Australia. And moreover, the revised schedule means anybody going through the dealer (which will be the vast majority of owners) is getting less for their money than they initially bargained for.

I guess you don't think its dodgy to set a fixed price schedule, only to revise it to include less at the same price? :crazy:

Because this has nothing to do with warranty it's about servicing and you obviously don't know the Australian consumer law. His powertrain warranty in it's entirety isn't voided by a tune. Also he has a right to be annoyed at an inclusive deal for scheduled maintenance with a capped price and then Toyota starts winding back the value of the deal. Bit like food manufacturers these days keeping the prices the same but reducing the size and or weight of the product.
