I'm trying to figure out what this hose is or does. It appears to be vacuum only. It is #2 in the diagram and connected from the intake pipe to the side of the block.

BMW has a valve that opens when under boost only to return crankcase pressure back to intake at least on the n55

I believe it is to provide an intake into the crankcase to provide fresh air to flush blow-by through the PCV valve. This is for emissions and to keep crankcase pressure at desired levels.

Its actually listed as the pcv valve. I had to replace mine. Broke it installing turbo. I didnt see the connection under the intake hose and id snapped with very little pressure.

This sits on the side of the intake hose correct. #2 in the picture. It bolts to the side of the block. What is in that part that bolts to the side of the block?

What do ya think about putting a breather on this?

I donā€™t know. Every engine is different and I donā€™t know enough on the B58 to have an opinion on dicking around with the crankcase ventilation.

The farthest Iā€™d go is installing a catch can which cleans the crankcase exhaust vapors before passing back through the engine.

Well I've got a breather on it and havent any issues. It is only pulling a vacuum. This is a temporary setup for now

I initially was thinking you meant a full PCV delete from your earlier comment. You still have most of the system in place, just one breather tube is now a direct vent. From what I recall, the abundance of breathers is the issue in releasing a catch can for the Supra.

If it works, it works. My only concern would be the aftermaket filter on the intake manifold. Someone else has one similar (Burger?) that did not perform well (~5 hp loss) as the CAI aspect of the stock system was removed to use a high flow filter. The additional air flow did not make up for the loss in air density. This was with no tune or downpipe at the time.

And is yours have a little oil residue coming out like mine? Lol. Seems to be common.
Mine seems to be doing that as well. I can actually see residuals dripping out of that area. Is this normal?

Hello everyone, so in installing my MST intake part #2 in the listed diagram above broke off as well. The portion that connects into the crankcase has snapped clean off of piece #3.

Will this cause majors issues? Can I run my car for the time being? Is it a simple fix of just replacing part #2 & #3? Do I need to bring it to the dealer to have it fixed?

Thanks for any information guys.

Does the mst intake has the same flaw as the op intake where previsions are not made to account for this connect, or is the mst intake more ā€œcompleteā€ but the hose was just broke in the install process?
