There's a house in the background? I was too fixated on the cars

@Brandonanix Have you had a 996 or 997? I think I would prefer them to the 991, but you're taking a step back in time on the tech side of things of course. I try to talk myself into one of those over a Supra, but the bore scoring fears have kept me away so far.

always trying to get attention and show off with your mansion and cars. Lmao but this time, your on somebody elseā€™s thread. lol sorry, I speak the truth and my mind. We all know you got a huge house and nice driveway way with rc-f, a90, and your sick toyota off-roader. No need to keep rubbing it in to us poor people.
Hope that's a joke. If not, please lighten up. It's not a mansion...just a nice house. And since you drive an Acura, looks like you aren't doing too shabby, either...

no just the 991.2. I feel like an older, smaller Porsche like the 997 would mentally allow you to forgive it for not having the modern tech. Kind of like if you bought an old Cobra or 1960ā€™s Porsche, you just buy it for a fun mechanical piece of art.

Damn don't be hating. It's just a picture. I can appreciate the mansion and the cars.
Lmao

I am not hating, itā€™s just he can post in his own show off thread. This is about the OPā€™s nice cars and etc.

If that is a mansion I wonder what part of GA you live in.

Just picked up a 2020 Launch Edition two weeks ago, and after spending some time hitting some fun roads, I wanted to do a real world comparison between the cars I have had over the last few years. This is not a ā€œwhat car is fastest on the track or drag stripā€ review. This review is to compare the Supra against higher and lower level vehicles I have owned and lived with in daily life settings.

Thank you for putting this comparison together. I was definitely in the market for either an M2 Comp or possible upping to a 2020 911 (I know price difference).

Very well said in each category.

Cheers,
-V

Awesome post! The most credible review that will compare these cars. I'm curious if the Supra won so many categories since it's the newest excitement. I wonder how you will feel after moving on to something else.

My mother had a 997.2 C2S. It was a wonderful car. Very raw and a great car. It has the same issue as the GT4 to me though in that it is not really a playful car on anything other than a racetrack. The rear has all the grip so the front is constantly pushing if driving semi-conservatively.

Great write up! Not sure if I missed this part in there - since you have picked up just recently, I imagine you made the decision that the 2021 isn't worth the wait for you?

For someone who will be buying a Supra 3.0 Premium hell or high water in February of 2021 (gota wait for that bonus check to clear!) what would you say lead you to make the decision to pull the trigger rather than waiting?

If youre waiting till Feb 21 to buy id wait and see what upgrades are for the next model year.

I had a similar vehicular ex journey (and a similar career path working for OEMs), so itā€™s nice to read some validation!

Civic Type-R Demo : too young, too basic, but an absolute blast. Easy to cook the brakes and the manual is not the one from the S2000 thatā€™s for sure. Glad it wasnā€™t available when I was 20 because Iā€™d still be paying it off .

Acura NSX Demo : quite simply the most brutal acceleration Iā€™ve ever experienced. A true supercar in almost every sense except...itā€™s quiet and not nearly douche-y enough. Didnā€™t have enough time to get used to the mid engine, but it was fun on the freeway for sure, especially with P100D Teslas getting cocky. At $80-$100K this is SO MUCH car for the money.

F80 M3 Manual : so called ā€œmanualā€ - hill hold, auto rev match, etc...still fun to row gears and somewhat operate a clutch but didnā€™t have the mechanical connection you want in a stick car. Brutal suspension with the comp pack 20s. Only wanted to to go 100+ and wasnā€™t happy anywhere else.

991.2 Carrera : the most street impact visually/presence wise Iā€™ve experienced since my MKIV, especially in Graphite Blue. Love the PDK and itā€™s the only auto I truly love. Again, wanted to go 100+ exclusively and wasnā€™t happy anywhere else. Tough ride (not as bad as the M3) and cheap feeling interior in the base trim. Itā€™s still a 911, but car guys KNOW itā€™s a narrow body and it hurts.

Supra LE : great compromise, easy to daily (unless youā€™re doing multiple stops), and is generally just happy to do whatever you want it to do, spirited driving to putting around town. Love the Japanese softness in the suspension tuning. Quality wise it is light years ahead of the Honda products and the Porsche, while offering more features than the M3. Best Supra Iā€™ve ever owned (had 3 MKIVs)...but I canā€™t help thinking a manual might make it a little more ā€œspecial.ā€ Maybe 2022 will have upgrade worthy surprises.

Glad to know Iā€™m not the only oaf having trouble getting in and out. At 6ā€™4ā€ / 300, I dive head first with zero shame .

Thanks again!

I love the NSX. I see them quite a bit being that they're built here in Ohio. I'm hoping to pick one up used in a few years when I get to top pay rate.

Fantastic review. I appreciate your time and input to write this all up. We need more reviews like this as your opinions reflect what I believe the Supra to be.

Truly a great comparison review by an owner not a motor journalist with hidden agenda.

Thanks for sharing your experience and can't wait to pick up my supra this week.
