Looking at pulling the plug on a Borla catback exhaust pretty soon here…

Anyone with a 2021+ & a Borla CBE have any issues?

I’ve read various things, such as the valve not actually closing during cold starts & normal mode.

Thanks in advance.

Any reviews are also appreciated.

You want the valve to close?
I would like to maintain a fully-functioning exhaust valve. Seems some 2021+ owners were having valve issues and some fitment issues.

No issues here, installed my new to me Borla last week, valves installed no issues. You just need to unclip the valve plug and reroute it behind the heatshield opening next to its original spot.

alignment no issues as long as you line the initial pipes at the downpipe parallel first and work your way down and fine tune at the end, will update my personal thread about it later

can you share a photo of how the tips attach? I’m considering this exhaust but am not a fan of the tips..

If they're easily removable/remountable I might be interested in taking them off your hands...

My buddy has one on his car, def sounds unique and pretty loud catless, largest issue I see is some of the valves start to rattle

I've been running the Borla for a few thousand miles. I had a HKS before which I solely bought based on name and it being voted #1 on this board (no idea why that is). The Borla sounds much better. It's quieter on cold starts but also louder at higher revs. I drive in normal mode and I'm very happy with it. Only negative is I honestly don't care for the look of the tips, and one of them started getting discolored and faded within just ~200 miles of install. Will probably get it replaced under warranty but Borla stated they haven't made any change in terms of finish/coating to prevent that from recurring.

Really hope not to deal with a rattling valve, but I’ve heard that same issue with various CBEs.

I've had to bend the "horseshoe" clip thing slightly on mine, not a problem really.

HKS was also high on the list, but I feel like Borla is better bang for buck. I also like the way the Borla tips look, but I may have to coat them with something prior to install…

I didn't love the HKS personally. Had to run it valve open to get some volume and even then it was just boomy/bassy down low and then it just quieted down the more the revs climbed.

After that I experience I specifically looked for a system that has a muffler on the quiet side and nothing on the valve side like the Borla. Much much happier.

as someone whos sold a lot of HKS, I agree, way too quiet and muffled, not worth the money, good quality at least
