The most expensive oil change I've ever had, and this is over 200 vehicles, was my BMW 750 that was around $150. It also had the 'no dipstick' dash reading deal.

Found this today because my local Toyota dealership (Grieco in East Providence, RI) tried the $362 oil change on me. I talked them down to $150 (amazing how that works), but shame on these scummy dealers. This was my third time at their service department as well, and now my last.

Saw the same thing here in VA. “Book” labor and parts cost was $350. Luckily I’m still under my Toyota care coverage so my cost was $0.

In scandinavia an oil change for the Supra is around 700 USD, which is laughable.
Thats why I never change my oil at Toyota 😄

We have two local Toyota dealers here in town. One quoted me $160 to do it. Expensive but kinda to be expected I suppose.
The other quoted me $250…or $245 if I buy the parts to do it myself. Just ridiculous.
Needless to say I’ll be doing my own changes from here on out. That ridiculous quote pushed me over the edge and I bought Quickjacks. lol. I’d rather spend a shit ton more to do it myself than pay you to fuck me.

That sounds like a service, more than just a change. That said the early services are filled with profit making fluff

With crazy labor rates in the USA sort of makes sense? Not that I accept it. Dealer minimums are usually like 1hour labor which is like what 150/hr these days? Plus material at retail can cost north of $100.. so near $300 range would be normal  + tax?

LiquiMoly + factory filter + 1hr of my time since I'm slow = <$100

Avoid dealer at all costs, go to race shop and ask them to put liqui moly in the B58, just as the Bavarian gods intended.

$150 for an oil change with materials is a deal. Some people are out of touch. You know when you hire people to work on your car for you, they expect to be paid, right?

$350 is insanity, I agree with that.

If my Supra were out of warranty, the amount the dealership would charge to check the leaking diff would be $185. My guess is that Toyota was charged that amount. The workorder also included a line item of "Perform Multi-Point Inspection."

I agree. I thought the $160 I was quoted was okay for a dealer oil change in the car. $250 with the oil change and “inspection” where the tech just draws a line down the sheet is ridiculous. I asked what they’re doing extra and the service writer said “I don’t know”.

I was able to just buy the parts and GR oil for $110. I’d rather do it myself anyhow.

I don't even bother with factory oil any more. LiquiMoly stuff has been great on my other Euro cars, why not my Supra. I started using LiquiMoly this year and will from this point forward.

Cheaper, readily available, and have an actual JUG I can capture my old oil to take to the autoparts store for recycling. :dunno:
