Just looking to get everyone’s opinion on the latest and greatest 6mt tuning software and which one is better here at this point in time and why? Lots of outdated info out there and I’m buying this week

In the “here and now”, MHD is the better buy because it has more advanced features actually available to the end-user. bm3 does have their CustomROM v2 and Rev2 board on the horizon but they are only available for the S58 currently and will likely remain that way until later this year.

Also for what it’s worth, I’ve ran both on my car and I’ve come to prefer MHD. Everyone has their preference and I’m sure you’ll get input from others who prefer bm3, but I’ve found that everything with MHD just works reliably the first time around. With bm3, I had connectivity issues, errors when flashing, issues with their OTS maps not running properly, ethanol cold starts that took so long the car would give up and shut itself off (Never had this with MHD. Even on full E85 my car starts right up every time.), antilag not working (Car would dump all of the boost that it had just built as soon as you let go of the button, effectively rendering it useless and making you slower than if you hadn’t used it), and a fair bit of bugs and usability issues with their mobile app.

This is literally exactly what I was looking for !

MHD here for about a year. Been running stage 2 93 and e40 OTS maps with no issues.

I can't speak for BM3 but once it's flashed and happy, the MHD OTS maps are fine - I'm running Stage 2, 98RON. Flashing does have its quirks though. After every flash I get weird errors appear on the iDrive screen like oil and tyre pressure errors. It's mildly annoying but they go away after a few cycles. And MHD support isn't very, well.. supportive. Despite these errors occurring (only and after) every flash, according to MHD these errors "can't be caused by the flash." The documentation is very out of date too but other than those complaints, it does what it says on the tin.

BM3 in my manual…. Really easy to flash, stage one map on 93. No issues at all, car feels like it left the factory only faster. Silky smooth. Loads of low end torque and the screen shows the updated power meter hitting 464bhp….. very easy, enjoyable upgrade.
Just need some all wheel drive to make use of extra power now….

I got MHD, I honestly think I made the wrong choice. MHD lacking boost by gear is pretty huge, especially for such a high torque car.

As a counterpoint, I have never had those errors when flashing with MHD, ever. That being said, we are just two datapoint. But gather enough datapoints, and you make a trend. What OBD dongle are you using? I'm using MHD universal (red wifi)

Both bm3 and MHD has boost by gear. In MHD, this is titled "Boost Ceiling (relative) (gear x rpm)"

I believe he is referring to the ability to set that himself via the mobile app. With BM3, you can set torque ceiling by gear in the mobile app and don't have to ask your tuner to do it.

Several Driver assistance errors on idrive, CEL for a battery code every single flash lol. Clears fine.

Car definitely has a little aneurism while being flashed but takes 10 seconds.

I have the black universal MHD adapter - which is physically orange . And the last time I flashed I didn't get any errors - I think MHD may have quietly fixed some bugs in the last iteration, but I'm not really sure as I only really flash if the OTS maps get updated.

Not sure, I have flashed 3 times this week already. Same thing every of the probably 10 times ive done it in total. Just diag mode, maybe because I had the car in gear?

But yeah without fail, battery CEL and "contact toyota" on the drive every time.

Yeah, who knows. It's weird but I don't think flashing is an exact science. I previously had tyre pressure and oil measurement errors on iDrive which went away after a decent drive. I think I also had the battery CEL once which pulled a weird code that I cleared with Bimmerlink. Maybe just #BMWThings.
