Yes, sometimes not always. I have only 6,800 miles. No mods just Downpipe but for sound purposes, I still haven't sent my ECU.
Oh ok, I'm still at 160 miles, lol, it's been raining so I avoid driving it in the rain. I was wondering may be because I'm not done with break-in period, but you definitely are.

In my other car, once I changed the transmission fluid to Redline after 10k miles, it shifted much smoother. Wondering if that will help. If not, may have a shop bleed the clutch.

I've experience this as well but it doesn't happen too often. I usually just select 2nd and go back into first. I also noticed the gauge will flash between N and 1st during this, but it will never fully go into first since it seems blocked. Not sure what could be causing this...

I am also having this same exact issue. 24 MT. Brought car just now to dealership to have them take a look. Anyone figure out what the problem is yet?

Gonna necro this thread, I had this exact same issue for 6-7 months or so, started around 3k miles and it still has it. I changed the trans fluid and it got better or I’ve got used to it not sure. I had it pre and post cdv removal.

None of this is an issue. It's a manual gearbox and they all have their idiosyncrasies. Having to release the clutch and have a second shot at selecting first gear at a stop occasionally is pretty common on may gearboxes esp medium duty boxes like the Supra has. Tremec T56 gearboxes used to pop out of first with quite a bang when you were tardy and didn't push it all the way in after it baulked on the syncro. First had a slightly longer travel into gear than the others and if you weren't concentrating or were rushed and it balked a little on the syncro you'd stop pushing the last 1/4 inch and it wouldn't be fully in gear. It let you know when you released the clutch though, lol.
With M21 boxes you couldn't even select second gear for at least 3 or 4 miles when the gearbox was cold because it wouldn't go in until the oil was warmed up. People used to run ATF in them to make it better. My gearbox gets a bit balky going into 4th around town sometimes if I'm a little lazy with the shift and clutch. I know why it happens and it's no big deal.

I've been having the same issue on my '24 model year with 4000 miles. It just started to lock me out of first gear when at a full stop. Sometimes it feels like a notch before I can fully engage the gear. Not much exp with manual cars ('19 ND Miata and '23 Civic Type R before the Supra), but never had this happen before. It's been over a year since my last brake bleed (SRF) and I'll report back.

What type of fluid did you use?

There's a bit too much hand wringing here with this gearbox. As I've mentioned a few times previously it's a medium duty gearbox designed to take a fair amount of torque unlike a Honda Civic or smaller engined gearbox. So the internals have larger gears with more mass and things don't necessarily just click, click into place. The Tremec T56 is the same. Sometimes selecting 1st if you were a bit lazy going in you wouldn't push it quite far enough and it'd jump out of gear when you released the clutch. User error nothing wrong with the box. Mine also wouldn't select reverse when cold so I'd select 4th gear and then go into reverse just fine. Every manual box is slightly different because of the stack up of tolerances in the box itself and add to that the differences in individual clutches and the hydraulic operating system. I had replaced under warranty a T56 Tremec due to a harmonic issue at 100kph road speed which was because of tolerance stack up issues internally in that particular box. That was 20 years ago at a time when if you had an issue and were persistent enough about it the actual manufacturer of the car sent an honest to god engineer out from the factory and went with you for a drive to diagnose the issue. You younger guys can only dream about that kind of thing and don't really understand what a shit sandwich we have all inherited today, lol. The gearbox is not a piece of electronics it's a mechanical thing and they all have their own individual personality even in this day and age believe it or not. Here's my advice. When you select first at a standstill just disengage the clutch and immediately shove it into first. It will rarely go in clean as a whistle but celebrate it when it does.

I think you have the same problem I have.. you've come from a Type R. By comparison, the gearbox in the Supra is absolute rubbish compared to the Honda box.
