You're right, a Supra 2.0 will probably have much sportier driving dynamic too, because of the massive weight difference. People already have claimed they'd rather get a 2.0 over a 3.0 Supra because of that, let alone comparing it to the Z.It depends. If all you care about is as much horsepower per dollar, the base Z is the better buy. If you care about things like interior quality, more equipment, etc but only have low to mid 40's to spend, the 2.0 might make more sense.
If you're cross shopping any 3.0 Supra with a Z, the Supra is the better buy every time. For the $3-8k difference depending on trim, you just get more. And, higher quality of what you get. Higher quality brakes, tires, transmission, engine, interior, suspension, and on and on. You spend a little more (sticker vs sticker) but you get a lot more.
The other thing I don't like about Nissan in general, is the fact we're going to see this same Z for the next 15-20 years with maybe a minor refresh lol. It blows my mind it's using the same 370Z chassis from 2009.
