From the provided specs on the Z forum link, the only real selling points to me seem to be the MT and creature comforts like Android Auto. I could see the Performance trim being a reasonable alternative if it were about $45k; more than that, I'd say the 21s offer a lot more performance for a little bit more -- our OEM tires are better, brakes seem to be better, and I have to assume the Z is more than 3400 lb since they didn't provide a curb weight.

The Z will probably heavily cut into 2.0 sales though.

Iā€™m not a fan of how this looks. Pretty bland, but I guess if you liked the last gen youā€™ll like this one.

Am I the only one who didn't like the blue interior? There's too much blue. Like Supra's red and CF goes well together, but with Z they just draw a line and that's it. Maybe steering wheel needs to match?
I just saw the pics. I couldnā€™t sit in that. It would hurt my eyes. Like the all red interior of the last gen Civic Type R. And those outer door handles are weird.

Yeah, not official though. Base spec gets an open diff  small brakes, non sport suspension, no rev match, cloth interior. So there's the savings vs Supra lol.
Yes, he did say excepted pricing. Yeah it's a base model. Kinda similar to the 2.0...

Like everything but the front still lol. I wouldnā€™t trade in my Supra for it BUT if I was on the market in that 40K range I would take it over a 2.0.

I'm not interested in buying the Z (at all) but I'm curious to see how the price it, specifically here in Canada.
In here you pay CAD$60k (incl. tax and levies) for the 2.0. That's something like $15k more than what the NISMO used to go for....the NISMO....let alone the base 370Z, we're talking $20k-$25k more.
I can't see that sitting well with many prospect owners who are hoping for a cheap car.....we'll see

Anyone else notice they also didnā€™t mention 0-60 times or 1/4 mile?? If it was faster than the Supra Iā€™m sure they would have touted it.
They said 15% faster to 60 than the 370z. So at best that's 4.2 seconds. And that will be the 9 speed. The manual will be slower.

Owned a 370Z for about 7+ years. Thoughts:
  1. Pretty sure those are the same garbage seats the 370Z had. MAYBE ok with them if they fixed the headrest so the part inside the seat doesn't push against your upper back (through the seat) if you rest your head against it.
  2. Still only one cup holder
  3. Props to Nissan for making the dash mounted gauge cluster show actual useful stuff, instead of one of them being... a clock...
  4. They said starting *around* 40k, which is code for $42,999
  5. Base model sounds pretty bad, doesn't have LSD
  6. 400 HP from the VR30DDTT combined with presumably decent weight will be a beast. That said, the B58 is still an objectively better engine.
  7. Probably handles pretty similar to 370Z, which is to say, fine.
  8. Manual transmission will be a big decision point when cross-shopping with Supra. Probably the most significant thing here.
  9. Auto transmission won't be as good as the ZF8
  10. Dealer mark-up / shenanigans will make buying one of these a royal pain the ass for first few years.
  11. Looks a lot better in blue compared to that particular yellow.
