Ah yes, Jalopnik… the Buzzfeed of car “news.”

Jalopnik is to automotive journalism, as Crocs are to fashion.
Writers thought the Supra was designed as a GT car and then made overly sporty. Enough said for those who haven't read it yet.

I figured the price of the performance model would be around $50k, but was hoping it would be less. But yeah, this ain’t no Supra killer and it isn’t great value either.

At least we will get to see the Z on the streets… in our rear view mirrors.

I'm in the camp of I'd rather get the base Z over a Supra 2.0 at MSRP prices. However, after spending a decent amount of time watching various videos on youtube, I simply cannot get over the weird looking front end, which really sucks because that's all we'll be seeing in the rear view mirror.

Fanboys will pay that plus any markup cause 400Z. Whats is the major diff between the trims for the $10k price bump?

Posted this over on the Z page ?

"My condolences. This Monday hit hard for a lot of us. Breaking hearts and dreams. Let me know if anyone has questions about the GR Supra."

Doubt it because I bet there wont be many available. Its going to be like the Supras where all you could get was a premium. Its like base models never even existed.
The name of the game is not volume but transaction price for new cars now. Stock base models??? NO thats not maximzing profit at all with small volume. Even then a dealer will talk a prospective customer into a more expensive trim daily.

What a turd. Nissan was too cheap to even bring the carpet up to the top of the footwell.

Weight reduction, to save 3.2 ounces from that 3600lbs heft.

That does look kinda ghetto lol

I think Z boys are better off just getting the sport model and going the aftermarket LSD route.

It depends. If all you care about is as much horsepower per dollar, the base Z is the better buy. If you care about things like interior quality, more equipment, etc but only have low to mid 40's to spend, the 2.0 might make more sense.
If you're cross shopping any 3.0 Supra with a Z, the Supra is the better buy every time. For the $3-8k difference depending on trim, you just get more. And, higher quality of what you get. Higher quality brakes, tires, transmission, engine, interior, suspension, and on and on. You spend a little more (sticker vs sticker) but you get a lot more.

You're right, a Supra 2.0 will probably have much sportier driving dynamic too, because of the massive weight difference. People already have claimed they'd rather get a 2.0 over a 3.0 Supra because of that, let alone comparing it to the Z.

The other thing I don't like about Nissan in general, is the fact we're going to see this same Z for the next 15-20 years with maybe a minor refresh lol. It blows my mind it's using the same 370Z chassis from 2009.
