I would love to see a thread where modders without a single issue would
detail their experiences. It seems that just about every complaint in this forum
can be traced to some form of modding. Am I right? Are there examples of trouble free mods?
I’m not sure about that. I see plenty of complaints from the Stocker people too.

I've had my share of head-scratching challenges with mods, but that makes it even more rewarding in the end.

I luckily don't have any horror stories or "crap, it's ruined now!" situations. More like, "now THIS is much better!"

Why not more of these or better yet mods for the poor handling?

My car was scary twi9tchy before my Hunter alignment.

I never thought the Supra handled poorly, but the Hunter alignment as well as an aFe front sway bar helped tremendously.

Besides some quality-of-life stuff and minor cosmetics, mine is all stock. Don't want to go down the rabbit hole of troubleshooting a daily driver with mods.

The Miata takes up enough of my tinkering time, anyways.
I don't blame you. Tuning expectations and results need to be managed. Otherwise, you might find yourself going back to the drawing board every so often

This thread is like my wife dangling freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and testing me how long I can wait before I jump into the jar..

My car was modded like day2 of ownership.. nothing major, but definitely not stock.

Guess I'm boring. I don't really plan to change anything significant. I did put on PPF (XPEL Stealth) with ceramic, installed a Perrin tow hook license plate kit for the required front plate (I bought a second tow hook cover to modify for this purpose and stored the untouched original), ended up installing BlendMount with mirror tap for my new Escort Redline 360c, replaced the floor mats with WeatherTech ones. I was able to secure a spare set of stock wheels that I plan to get powder coated in a yet to be determined color/finish.

Two tone wheels aside, I like the stock look so anything I end up doing will likely be limited to functional changes that can be completely reverted back to stock with little effort.

It's worth noting that other than this car I have nearly exclusively leased vehicles my whole adult life, so perhaps I'm just conditioned now to resist modifying cars.

Me! I got my windows tinted, windshield strip and I think I might power cost my stock wheels black, that’s about it. I’m thinking about adding a Rexspeed duct tail spoiler but not sure. I would love more mods but that’s a lot of money. One of the reasons I loved the Supra is because it looks, feels and sounds good stock.

Update: nine months of ownership and I am finally in love with this car.
Honestly, and not trying to diss anyone, but I don't get it when owners are
adding more power to this car without figuring out the other dynamics: the brakes and the handling.

I still see here where people are asking if it is normal for their Supra to lurch left or right under WOT. Are you serious? If a Ferrarri or McLaren or Porsche behaved like this, the jornos and the net would be all over them.

I addressed the handling issue by having my Porsche Indy check my car out. Beside being a top A1 mechanic, he is an active racer with the P club. He re-aligned the thing and I had a different car.

My next concern is the brake fade and occasional lack of initial bite and subsequent feeling of "Oh! sht!" that is new to me. I have my eyes on some Hawk pads and I hope my guy will agree with me. If not I am ready to budget some serious money to bring this otherwise outstanding car up to its potential. In my opinion, it can be world class in its category.

I'm up to 7k miles in 9 months with a 600 mile trip included.

As an aside, I have only encountered 5 other new Supras in 9 months...
Looking at the Salvage thread, I am not surprised at the sheer number of wrecked Supras in a mere 2 years. Check out the owner demographics.

Rambling on, I have used Colinite wax on all my cars . Love the stuff. Currently using Griots ceramic spray after each car wash. Happy with it.

Need to have 2 wheels refurbished because of curbing. what a pain!

So the aFe sway bar replaces the existing bar and it is stiffer, correct? Did you do the install yourself, how hard is it, or did you have ther tire shop that did the alignment install the aFe bar, what did they charge? And what difference did you notice? You only did the front and not the rear?

Did you wind up replacing the brake pads, if so, what are your thoughts?

Not yet but is on my to-do list.
I'm liking this car more and more but the brakes
have to be replaced as I find them ok at normal speed but a bit slow to bite
at speed and rather inconsistant during repeated applications. I am at abt 7.5k miles now and will wait until 10k for oil service and brake pads replacement.
I have not decided if I'm going to use the free oil change given the bizarre
stories on this forum of Toyota dealerships screwing up an oil change...
I am of a mind to avoid these people at all cost. I'll see when the time comes.

Yes, it's slightly stiffer than stock. I installed it myself in my garage, on race ramps. It's a very easy install. No alignment is necessary for the sway bar swap. I only did the front for two reasons - 1) the rear is quite involving as it requires the subframe to be dropped and 2) a stiffer rear sway bar isn't as beneficial on RWD cars as the front, especially since I wanted to dial back a bit of the OEM oversteer.

I had it on the softest setting for about a week, then went on the middle setting. It feels much better now. Steering heft and feel has improved and the car feels flatter and more responsive to steering inputs.

This is obviously a subjective topic and will depend on the owner at the end of the day. I don't find any faults with keeping a car stock vs. modifying it to great lengths. It comes down to the owner... for me personally, when I bought the car and drove it stock for a month, it was nice but it wasn't what I was expecting coming from other platforms. It's handling was good, power was decent, torque was addicting...but I wanted more. Could I have been complacent and kept it stock? Sure.

I am the type that likes to find the car's/my own limit, but on the same token I like to do things right the first time when it comes to modifying them (i.e. research the living heck out of things first, get input from other builders, drivers, etc.). I also feel that a lot of the people on here who complain about things like "rear end's kicking out under throttle/mods broke my car) are just inexperienced in both driving and the ways modifying cars sometimes works out.

I have been through multiple builds as have others on this forum and issues will always come... the fun is figuring them out and achieving the desired end result. This is the first brand-new purchase I have made and it is exciting to mod because we are heading down unknown territory with the platform. For me that adds a great amount of appeal to mod it further.

tldr; It's a great platform in stock form, but it also has potential to be even greater if the driver's skill can handle it.
