Currently ... only the driver side exhaust pipe is open at cold start up. Looks kind of inadequate.

Is there anyway to always have both sides (exhaust tail pipes) open at cold start up?

It doesn't appear this can happen even when using bimmercode (reprogramming) when having the car start up in sport mode.

Can the electronic exhaust valve mechanism (passenger side) be modified to remain open at all times?

Thoughts?

What do you mean by "looks kind of inadequate?"

In any event, you can start the car in sportmode. Once you hop in and the car recognizes your key, you can press the sport button to open the valve and start the car from there.

How bout warming the car up enough to open the valve and unplugging it...it would be open at the time at that point it would seem?

Down load the bimmer app. You can set the pipe to always be open as well as having the car start in sport mode without having to press anything.
the app has many other functions as well with all aspects of the car

Perhaps for a good reason. Warm engine up quicker, something with back pressure, burn gasses for emissions, etc...
I think disconnecting causes issues as people with aftermarket non-valved had to find solutions..

Just bought a new 2022, which bimmer app? I'd like to download it. Thanks.

I was able to open the valve with bimmerlink, once the car starts up it takes a second or two for it to open. The cold start is mad loud with my catless downpipe. You need to have the dongle conected and the app open for the most part.

I ended up using the BMW harness adapter which keeps the valve open all the time. Open valve via sport mode, disconnect harness from servo and plug BMW adapter in.

Just take it apart, turn the valve open, put it together without the clip and it never closes leave plug connected… what I did for one side of my fi exhaust no electronics needed

can tie it or tack bit for added security but eh
